Gemini started dropping wifi connection
« on: July 11, 2018, 08:45:42 pm »
Has anyone else experienced problems maintaining a wifi connection? I have suddenly started experiencing loss of connection and it is slow to reconnect. Other devices are working so it does not seem like it would be the wifi router, which is admittedly prehistoric. Not really sure how to troubleshoot this beyond seeing if the wifi stays connected to other devices. --Chris

I had this happen before the last update. I had to reboot the device to resolve the issue. I'm not having any issues though now with the latest build.

Yes. A known, chronic issue with the Verizon Network (my carrier).

Sometimes switching between (alternately on then off) 4G and LTE 4G in Cellular Networks can resolve it.

Also, updating one's router / modem (home, office) helped (my connections), as well as setting the router / modem's security control to typical (never HIGH) improved WiFi data flow.

On the Verizon Network, long touch hold of the VZINTERNET apn until one gets to that APN's settings and updating the listed default settings with 2018 apn info improved data flow.

All combined, Verizon SMS, etc. are much less problematic than they became after the latest firmware update (and almost back to good functionality prior to the update).

BTW, tweaking Gemini's cell settings for your carrier is advised because Planet's configurations are current ONLY through the 3rd quarter of 2017 (including the Gemini's Nov. 2107 Android Security patches that we are still waiting on presently).
