I have spent a while now trying to organize applications on my Sailfish/Gemini. Sometimes dragging an icon does it, while other times it creates a directory (I hate "folders," a Microsoft-introduced insult to users) containing the app I'm moving plus whatever else was closest to the one I was trying to move.
So, first, how is it done? I have four or five apps I use frequently, plus another dozen or so I use from time to time. This ought to be simple to figure out, but so far I haven't, and there's . . .
Second: . . . no user guide. Beyond the tutorial, there's really nothing. There are some general paradigms, but nothing specific. So, I propose to assemble and post someplace (here?) a sort of user guide wiki. A good idea? And is there a way to do it here?
For instance, in the File Browser application -- found in both OpenRepos and the Jolla Shop -- poke and hold on any file and it renders a menu allowing one to move the file, delete the file, and so on. Just poking it renders a side screen with details of the file. But there's also a pulley menu that offers choices -- if it's an RPM, for instance, the choice is to install it.
This is simple stuff and not the kind of hacking/configuration stuff we usually find here. I think we need a kind of cheat sheet just to get people through the basics not just of SFOS but of its apps. We're going to be discovering more and more of these.
Maybe Varti would pin a SFOS tips'n'tricks discussion in this forum? I'd be happy by starting it off with a common problems and their solutions post.
