C700 with Cacko 1.21 ROM seen as C860
« on: June 02, 2004, 03:57:10 am »
I put the cacko rom on my c700, and the computer\'s suddenly looking for a c860 driver now (this is Windows).  I don\'t have a c860 driver, and the c700 driver refuses to install.

My main goal is to get the usb net thing running again

I looked around the forums, but the search function was not bringing up anything relevant   Anyone know what I should do?

I believe that this is because the cool networking stuff from my c860 was backwards implemented by cacko. The usb driver files for the c760 are available on the net, and i think in this forum as well. I found the drivers for my on the net at any rate.  I will look for them and reply back, or if not i will post tomorrow.

My wish - to have a Command & Conquer style game on my Z! (FREECNC!!!) Simcity 2000 would also be great.

Here are the drivers. Also in the networking applet, you should be able to select one of the external cards, and your Z will then act as a mass storage device without any extra drivers!  Of course to use the usb net you will need... This! http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php...q=getit&lid=199

Cool, thanks!

Now for a slightly separate question... why does PC-Link have to run in order to use NetFront/mail?  I was able to connect my Zaurus to the internet in Linux by doing some iptables stuff, but I wasn\'t able to use NetFront or the default email app unless I connected via that.  Trying to connect with either told me there was no connection or something...  and PC-Link tells me that it couldn\'t make the connection (when I plug in the Zaurus to Linux, it automatically hooks up the usb net link).  I heard that NetFront\'s much faster, and I want to try it out

Netfront (and all other qtopia apps) relie on qtopia to to them that the network is up. Network applet tells qtopia - who tells eveyone else - when the netwrok goes up. As there is no option for usb networking under the networking, Netfront doesn\'t know that the network has gone up (or down). To tell qtopia that the network is up you have 2 options

1) run qcop messaga - qcop QPE/Network \"up()\"
2) install dummydev - creates a dummynetwork connection using irk, so that you can click on the network applet after connection to usb network.

The second option is probably the easiest

When I tried dummydev a while back, it took away my infrared port (i.e., no beaming). Is that still true?

Yep, not sure why. I never really studied it much as I don\'t have an ir devices I can connect to.
