« on: April 13, 2004, 05:12:07 pm »
-edited:-
This application is now shareware (go to www.epsena.com/products.html).

Hi,

I would like to present an application made by Epsena. zauLEDSignalizer uses LEDs of your PDA to signalize many events on the device. Currently supported events, when LEDs blink are:

Compact Flash reading
Compact Flash writing
Compact Flash inserted
Secure Digital reading
Secure Digital writing
Secure Digital inserted
Storage reading/writing
IrDA sending
IrDA receiving
IrDA active
USB Communicating
Processor usage high
Screen tap
Battery status low

Works with:
Sharp Zaurus SL-5000D
Sharp Zaurus SL-5500
Sharp Zaurus SL-A300

SL-5600 and C-7x0 models will be supported soon.

Charge LED flashes only when AC power is connected.

Not wanting to spoil your business, but if someone is interested in a simple program to set/unset LEDs from a shell-script, there are my ledtools.

Tested with C760 only.

But this is a little different tool. It not only turns on/off LEDs but makes them flashing on selected events/signals, so you know what your Zaurus is doing.

I can\'t wait for this to support C760, but alas I still haven\'t got mine fixed.

Hopefully someone will make a GNU version.
Left Linux and Linux PDAs... sorry, got boring.  Switched to Mac.

Any new info on C7x0 model support?  It seems like a fairly minor app, but I\'d gladly pay to know when it\'s time to reboot or when I should give it a bit longer to think.
Open source RTS.  It's still in the very early stages, so testers are quite welcome.

Bartek, how did you enable the charging LED without having the AC connected?

I spent lot of time trying to enable ChargeLED -without success- and I think it is impossible to enable ChargeLED without the AC connected (hardware limitations).

D\'oh. Sometimes it helps to read, thanks Anton.

I\'m pretty sure it is not a hardware limitation though, because on the Zaurus, _everything_ is done in software, even charging the battery. Needs a kernel patch though and it\'s probably not worth the work.

Yes, it is a software problem, since battery handling code inside zaurus kernel does exactly that - it turns battery LED on and off at will.
