zazz: Nothing compiles \"out of the box\" for me because I only have a PPC linux laptop and there is only a x86 SDK, AFAIK.
I think ar is kind of necessary, considering it is required to extract files from .deb archives. (\"Package Manager\" recognises debs, but doesn\'t seem to be able to do much with them.)
I hadn\'t noticed that ldd was just a shell script, thanks.
Anyway, you can snag just about any binutil/lib you want from Pockworkstation. Just d/l the zdebian.tar.gz and untar it on a linux box. Still a pain, but way less trouble than tearing apart .deb files.
Will the pdaXrom have a compiler in the future? Way back in the january X11ROM I remember building some small programs on the Z, but that feature seems to have disappeared. It was really easy to install, too. I know there isn\'t enough RAM/storage to build anything big, but it would be handy to have the option to compile little things like unzip on the z.
