Lately, I encoutered \"Invalid Magic\" error message while installing software with ipkg-new?

What does it mean?  How to solve the problem?

Normally means an archive (I don\'t know which bit or which one) is corrupted. Assuming you\'re using ipkg-new for a reason (i.e. you don\'t have access to \'ar\'), I\'d try downloading it again.

.ipk files are packaged using either tar+gzip or ar. If you try to gunzip an ar-packaged file it will say \"Invalid Magic\" and die.

ipkg should be able to distinguish between the two .ipk varieties. I don\'t know anything about ipkg-new. Perhaps it\'s a new version of ipkg that does away with using ar, breaking compatibility with old packages...
