Does pdaX rom need
« on: June 04, 2004, 07:45:04 pm »
Does pdaX rom still need \'openssh\' + \'wellenreiter\' ?

I\'ve not rummaged the board for a while so sorry for my ignorance but it always lacked these two app\'s and that put me off using pdaX rom.

Sadly (:-)) the C760 tkcrom is doing everything that I need but having those on cacko pdax would definately make me change roms.
SL 5000D, SL5500 - tkc rom / C760 - proto 2.5.1 - javab0y /Spectrum24 / Dlink DCF650w / Buffalo wli-cf-s11g / Origo Wifi / Compaq B21 Cf Modem / EagleTec CF 10-base ethernet / Various SD/MMC / Socket Bluetooth / VW Golf GTIT (debian integrated supercharger - honest) ;-) PPC2003.net with TomTom Nav 5 - TomTom is blinding GPS s/w - sorry but nothing on o/s comes close to TomTom (wish it did).

openssh has been available for pdaXrom for a while now. I think it is one of the first things the pdaX team compiled for the rom.

I do not think that wellenreiter is available.  What is that?  WiFi sniffing?  If so, the have kismet.

Hi thanks for your reply.
I didn\'t spot openssh - my mistake- is that the client & server? I\'m an old supporter of kismet and have it running in tkcrom (C760/860) and on 5500, also running in debian with festival - thats a blast, but for a small device Wellenreiter is superb & in my opinion better than kismet.

Yes, both the client and server for openssh.

I really can not comment on how smooth kismet runs, I\'ve never bothered using it.

I really do not think you would be dissapointed in pdaX.  You can install kopi to take care of your PIM and new apps are being compiled every week.  The community has done a pretty good job of fulfilling reasonable requests for applications too.

Wellenreiter II once compiled against plain Qt/X11. You could try to resurrect that or use the old version that\'s out (1.0-rc).
