Battery Charging

I finally got my sl-5500 in today. As everyone here probably knows the instructions say to charge it for 24 hours, but the charge light is off and the battery status says that there is a full charge after just a couple of hours. Does this sound right? I did get it off of an ebay store that _claims_ that it's new, but it's surely possible that it could have been used before. All of the packaging was there, but appears to have been repackaged. Is it safe to at least put it in the cradle and start flashing and installing apps?

That just means the main battery is at full charge when the light is out. There is also another internal back up battery that needs to be chaged as well. This is the reason for leaving it charge for 24hrs first time around.
