Project Idea

So, in two weeks or so I'll be driving my girlfriend down to her internship.  She gets to live inside Disney World for 4 months.  Being as how we both live in Philly, it's going to be quite the drive.  Randomly the other day, I was thinking about buying a GPS unit for my Zaurus and Laptop.  I've always wanted one, and now I have the money to afford it.  Then today it hit me.  I think I'd like to map out all the wireless access points along the east cost on our drive.

There really is no point to it.  It's moreso just a geek factor thing I guess.  The only question I have though, is do you think the GPS unit could handle it?  As well, would the Zaurus be able to handle it, and would the WiFi card be able to handle it?

I know my laptop will be fine.  I've had that thing running constantly for much much longer than 19 hours.  The Zaurus though is different.

Besides all the "that's pointless" comments, anyone else have any comments/neat ideas for the trip?  As well, anyone know whether or not the hardware can handle it?

And to top it off, any recommendations on GPS units that you know work well with Wellenreiter?

Just for reference, it's a c860 with an AmbiCom wifi card.

Hi dz

Not sure about the other stuff, sounds interesting though, but if I were you I'd get a battery extender or something so make sure you have enough power.

Good luck with it.

As far as battery, I'm not worried.  The laptop itself will be plugged into the car, and the PDA I plan to have plugged into the laptop using one of those usb sync/charge cables.

Speaking of which, I need to buy one of those as well.
