Shutdown app?
« on: August 01, 2004, 10:58:48 am »
Reading thru the faq's, etc, I see mention of a 'Shutdown App', but I can't find one on my 860/Qtopia. I can Reboot or Suspend it, but how do I shut it all the way down? Do I just use the on/off switch in the back; IIRC, Linux usually doesn't like being powered off by the hardware switch.

Neither does the Zaurus - at least the clamshell models. If you shutdown completely you have to pull the battery before you can get it to start up again.

I've had my C760 fotover a year now and have never had any problems with just suspending it, most of the time I just close the cover, which tuns off the lcd and means the Z is ready to start just by opening the case.

If you really want to shutdown, there are some ipks around that will do it, but you can just create the desktop file yourself - search the forum here it will tell you how to do it.

Assuming you have the SL-5500, the shutdown app referred to is probably the same one found under your "tools" tab.  Big red icon that says "shutdown".  ;-)

Also, there is a shutdown command in /sbin.

Hope that helps.
