Socket WiFi CF card w/ c860, incompatible..?
« on: September 29, 2004, 04:42:31 pm »
hi all... i purchased a Socket WiFi CF card yesterday for use w/ my new c860, but it doesn't seem to operate at all in my c860, is this card compatible w/ the c860? the LED indicators on mine do not light up ever, either when the unit is powered up or when the card is inserted. also, it doesn't seem to show up at all in the Networking applet. any clarification would be great, i can return the card to Fry's tonight i assume if it going to be a show-stopper w/ my c860.

my Socket WiFi card has the following codes on the back, if that will help anyone to identify it!

Low Power WLAN Card

FCC: IXMCF-B-AG-01
IC: 4110A-CFBAG01
USI CF-B-AG-01

03NYDAQ244
03GZDA0204

if anyone could chime in i would greatly appreciate it, i just got cacko 1.21b onto my c860 last night and am dying to start surfing wirelessly w/ my unit out on the patio, thx all..!

I have an older Socket Low Power WLAN Card that works fine with the C860. The various ID numbers are different from those on yours. When I got it, I believe I read that there were compatability problems with newer versions of the same card, very similar in appearance. There used to be (probably still are) details and links to Zaurus drivers on the Socket site. Perhaps something there will help.

If your socket has squared edges, then I believe they do not work with the Z (no one has made drivers for it), but if the edges around the attenna area is rounded then you have the older model.  The older model should work fine with the cacko rom.
I'm now an iphone user and use my zaurii as serial terminals, perl and shell scripting and when I need 640x480 screens
