Work with two languages. Need help.
« on: August 22, 2004, 06:11:04 pm »
Most non english-speaking people, using PDAxROM look for a convinient way to work with two languges. From my experince this must basically include:
- way to swith layout using hardware keyboard (instead of clicking xmonobut icon each time);
- force Xkbd to show local characters insted of cubes;
- force Firefox to use fonts, supporting local language.

I'am a Zaurus&Linux newbee, maybee that's why i didn't solved these tasks.

- As far as I know Cacko ROM offers a convinient way to switch layout - by simply pressing Alt-Shift combination. Is there any way to do the same in PDAxROM.
- I didn't manage to force Xkbd to show cyrillic characters instead of cubes (while i have all nessesary fonts and even tried to force Xkbd to use them using bash string syntax.
- Firefox shows only question marks on webpages with cyrillic texts. In Firefox language menu I've added Russian language and have chosen CP-1251 encoding. But in fonts menu Firefox doesn't allow to choose installed cyrrilic fonts and offers only Serif and Sans Serif.

Does anyone have any solutions.
Thanks in advance.

P.S.
Maybe other users have other localisation problems.
