How about this alternative ROM?
« on: September 03, 2004, 07:17:27 pm »
It appears the 'never say die' Newton users are looking to create an emulator to run the Newton OS on more up-to-date hardware like the Zaurus.  If they can pull this off and if it has decent performance numbers, this could be a very interesting handheld.

Could this nudge Apple into releasing their designed but never released handheld?  Or possibly, come out with a multi-media handheld that combines PDA, iPod and video in one device?

Interesting, very interesting!

Read, ponder, comment:

What? No current or former Newton users out there?  I was hoping someone would compare and contrast the Newton OS and software options with those of the Zaurus and let us know whether this would be something worthwhile.

One thing I have heard is that the handwriting recognition software on the Newton is top notch and could possibly be a big improvement over what we have on the Z.
