Reals, integers, dates, times in Gnumeric
« on: November 16, 2004, 01:41:52 pm »
I've got a problem with conversion of .xls to gnumeric

The layout seems fine,
formula's are good
colors and text-styles are ok
...

but all my reals, integers, dates, ... do not convert correctly.

Anyone knows how to solve this ?

Are you using the RC5 versions of Gnumeric etc?  The Vector Floating point emulation will give invalid instructions as the kernel exception handling has been  removed ...

The gnumeric I use came with RC5 or was installed from the RC5 feed (don't recall)
The wrong conversion of reals etc. is like that in both directions (Gnumeric to .xls, .xls to gnumeric). I guess it might have something to do with my settings for date, time and number notation-settings in Win2K (I live in Belgium).

But what can be done about it ?

Basically Gnumeric isn't 100% stable - we have found the reason for crashing on launch and this should also solve some other problems in other programs. It related to the gnome config.
C760 running pdaXrom lastest ;-)

I don't think this would solve my problem.

When I save as xls in Gnumeric and open again in Gnumeric, all is OK.

It's when I open in Excel, that the problem occurs.
Same thing happens when I open a file in Gnumeric that was saved in Excel.

I'm sure it's a settings-thing, but I don't seem to be able to find out where I can change it. Anyone else who has the same problem ?
Or, is there someone around that doesn't have this problem ?

I desperately need to be able to take my spreadsheets with me.
