For me apt update froze while processing the http://gemian.thinkglobally.org/stretch/ gemini-linux-kernel-3.18-stretch repository:

root@gemini:/etc/apt/sources.list.d# apt update
Hit:1 http://security.debian.org/debian-security stretch/updates InRelease
Hit:4 http://ftp.debian.org/debian stretch-backports InRelease
Ign:5 http://cdn-fastly.deb.debian.org/debian stretch InRelease
Hit:6 http://cdn-fastly.deb.debian.org/debian stretch Release

For me this got solved by installing http-transport-https:

apt install apt-transport-https

Maybe there is some new https redirect on the server.

With my Cosmo it seems the dual orientation microphone is not working. No matter how I am holding the Cosmo, it seems the speaker is always near to the flash and the microhone near to the fingerrprint reader.

Does anyone experience the same behaviour?

Am I missing some setting? Hardware defect? Not yet implemented?

I have identified a process "android.hardware.nfc@1.1-service" occasionallly using up one cpu core (top in termux) and draining the battery then. Turning off nfc heals the problem. After reenabling nfc cpu usage stays down. I can see this happen every one or two days.

For the time being it might be best to keep nfc disabled until one needs it. Bug ticket @PC already opened.

Just got a CODI update from V1.1.1.11 to V1.1.1.12. To get the update start the Cover Display Assistant app and press "check for updates". It took two attempts to flash the update. So if it fails, just retry. The flashing takes quite long (the app tells it might be about 20 minutes), so it might be better not to start with a nearly empty battery. For me the battery charge went down from 87% to 82% while flashing. For me the CODI feels snappier and I hope for better standby time. But maybe my perception is wrong.

Using the camera preview on the CODI still is slow, maybe a two seconds lag.

I am mentally preparing for the Cosmo. I don't want to use Android on a phone for privacy reasons (using Debian on the Gemini, but that is not really an option for using the device as a phone), so Sailfish might be the best option. With this a few questions regarding Sailfish have arisen:

There might only be a community edition available initially. Is it possible upgrade to official without having to reflash?
Is it possible to update Sailfish without having to reflash?
What about X11 compatibility, is this possible somehow?
Hardware support (USB devices) and filesystem support is some kind restricted with the Android kernel. Has anyone tried the modular kernel with Sailfish?
