This was probably discussed way back...does anybody know if it is possible to swap out the SL-3100 MicroDrive with a Compact Flash Drive? I did this way back with a Palm LifeDrive, which also has a MicroDrive.
Anybody know how difficult this is or if there are things to look out for? Thanks, miked1541 |

Yes, lot's of people did the swap....
Worked great.... Not hard, but just be careful opening up your Z, removing the MicroDrive, installing the CF card, and putting it back to together. Mark |

Mark ] As Mark mentioned, it is easy to replace the CF card. Make sure you format it properly before you put back in to you save yourself the hassle of installing Linux OS later via SD card. There are some CF cards known to not work. I would recommend to check OESF forum for known working cards. The 8GB SandDisk card I use I had to patch the kernel to make it work as the ID was not known. |

Thanks for digging up these tutorials. I was looking the other day and could not find them. ![]() It wasn't an easy task for me either... a simple search found way too many results, then I found a post of someone mentioning "I have followed iamasmith's tutorial", so I filtered the search to him. The more posts a forum has, the more information can be found but the more time you need to find it. I anyway like to search for old posts since I also usually end up fixing broken image links, in this case I retrieve the images on archive.org and attach them to the posts. Varti |
