Also just found Leena OS on Google Play. Might give this a try, although it doesn't appear to have been updated in a while.....

Leena OS is a definite no BTW - only supports particular apps. I deleted it after a few minutes of playing with it.

QUOTE(Daniel W @ Feb 4 2019, 09:11 AM) *
For what it's worth, after close inspection and careful (neighbor) cat hair removal, I seem to have three. If I start measuring from the side that has the charging port, mine appears at 33, 57.5 and 139mm. Here's a closeup of one of them:
[attachment=6392:Hairline.jpg]
Apologies for the weird angle, it was quite hard to get the light just right, to, at all, make the crack visible. We're looking at the front edge of the Gemini lid, with the top cover removed. The white hazy part to the left is the serial number sticker.

While they are very thin, I can feel them with a fingernail, and with the top cover removed, prying gently with a fingernail, I can make the one on the picture above flex ever so slightly, so they are indeed real. I notice that all three of mine are near (but not exactly at) ends of the four magnets keeping the lid closed. I would presume the magnets are press-fit into place and that the cavities receiving them are supposed to be really tight to ensure a snug fit. Molding plastic to very exact dimensions is tricky, so maybe some cavities got a fraction of a millimeter too small, or, possibly, some of the magnets were a hair thicker than specified.

In either case, I agree with Eldkatten, the affected material likely won't see any further stress. Given there's plenty of plastic behind the magnets, I don't think the cracks will affect the structural integrity of the lid in any relevant way, so, at least in my case, I'd write them off as manufacturing blemishes. While naturally undesirable, I'm neither surprised nor upset. I've seen worse from far more experienced brands.

I took another look at my Gemini and in addition to the obvious crack I photographed, there are another three cracks!

Prior to this, I wrote to Planet and they offered to investigate, but I can't do without my Gemini and don't want to risk further damage shipping from here in Australia.

FYI - reply from Planet Support included the following statement:

"From my own experience at the warranty service side, this is not something we have replicated at a large scale, or our own personal devices. Nevertheless, we are happy to have a look at the affected devices for investigation and potential resolution of the fault."

Hello,

do you have a photo yet?

Kind regards

Finally got round to taking a photo of the crack. Used my trusty Nokia 1520's camera! Makes you realise how crap the Gemini camera is.....

Sorry to hear that; I have checked on mine and I haven't noticed any crack on the housing. I always keep my Gemini in its Planet leather case when I don't use it. Out of curiosity, do you own a Planet's case or a third party one?

Varti

Planet leather case.

Also don't slam my lid shut like they show in the interviews/demos. I gently close it with two hands always. Very strange....

Just noticed my Gemini has developed a small hairline crack on the top edge of the display/lid plastic housing. Will try and post a photo.

No idea how this could occur, as I am very careful with my Gemini (always stored in a case and never dropped).

Has anybody else's Gemini suffered a similar fault?

I've had clock drift issues recently as well. I have the "use network-provided time" option set, yet I noticed my clock was suddenly almost an hour out!

Have now downloaded the NTP based ClockSync app, which compares atomic time with the system time and raises an alarm if they drift by too much. If you are rooted, it will sync automatically in the background.

Just spotted this on Indiegogo:

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/celtrix-...ce/x/13629384#/

Would add phone functionality to a WiFi only Gemini. Could also allow a single SIM card to be shared amongst different devices, e.g. Gemini, other Android phones or tablets.

It isn't easy to swap the SIM card from the Gemini when you want to use a smaller phone for a day, so this would be an easy way to swap between using different devices, but have them all attached to the same phone number. I know that is what eSIM is for, but not many devices come with an eSIM and the only devices currently supported here in Australia are Apple watches.

I don't own the camera add-on, but as a brief aside, could someone recommend a very small camera, with reasonable specs? Pocket-sized. Something to carry with the Gemini.

Jake

OK - not exactly small, but this has a flash and allows you to remotely control it over WiFi (includes built-in access point):

http://www.pixpro.world/products/smart-lenses/sl5/

Another model has 25x optical zoom and 30s shutter speed option for night time photography:

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1085..._lens_with.html

I picked them both up on eBay new. Perfect companions to the Gemini!

So I decided to try this one:

Will report back with my findings when it arrives!

The mount arrived and I'm pleased to report it allows me to hold the Gemini at the perfect screen angle for GPS operation. Will add a photo later.

Finally added some photos......

Anybody else have the same issues with US keyboard mapping?

You are stuck in UK mode! Have you tried another keyboard? I use SwiftKey and find it very good on the Gemini, better than stock tbh. You could try it to see if it's and issue with PC Gemini keyboard software rather than firmware.

Just looked SwiftKey up on Google Play and it appears to be a software keyboard for on-screen typing. How will it solve my keyboard mapping issues on the Gemini physical keyboard?

Another issue I've found is that my keyboard is no longer mapped correctly.

I have a US keyboard and have selected US keyboard and language in Gemini Keyboard. Even rebooted, but the following keys are mapped incorrectly:

Shift-2 gives " instead of @
Shift-3 gives £ instead of #
Fn-1 gives | instead of ~
Fn-2 gives # instead of `
Fn-M gives ` instead of '
Fn-K gives @ instead of ;
Fn-L gives ; instead of "
\ gives ' instead of \
Shift-\ gives ~ instead of |

This upgrade is a bit of a train wreck for me, I'm afraid......

Same problem here
Before the update, the silver button launched the voice assistant, now it doesn't. Also Fn+space doesn't do anything. All settings are correct, nothing happens...

Uninstall and reinstall voice assistant from the store worked for me.

It didn't work for me unfortunately....

I have stock Android image.

Upgrade OK, but no matter what I select in Gemini Settings, the silver button will not start the Google Assistant.

Same for Go to desktop on startup option - it does not work for me.

Has anybody found a decent car mount for the Gemini?

I'd be interested to know if the Brodit car mounts for the Psion 5 are suitable for use with the Gemini.

So I have my SD card mapped as shared memory. Word, Excel, etc. stopped working months ago. The splash screen is displayed, then they close without any error message.

After seeing this latest post, I tried them again and they are working now!

Seems there is no consistency in the problems we are seeing here with MS Office....

Apart from that, you will find that the left bottom "menu arrow button" does not respond anymore if you change it to 600dpi.

So is there a workarround for the arrow button? I sure need that button or any other way to see all my apps. But i do like the 600dpi screen. Many of my frequent used apps perform way better.
Btw normaly i swipe up, but thats not working aswell.

I have installed Google Now Launcher and you get a dedicated button on your desktop to open the apps drawer.

This appears to be better suited to the Gemini than the standard launcher.
