Asking price: Negotiable. Please make me an offer.

Do you have a ballpark figure of how much you're looking for? And in what condition is the battery?

I use mine, carry it and its sled with me everyday. I aswell am running stock sharp rom, works good for what I need it for. As for new roms, not any that fully work.

Oh this is exciting. Seems like there isn't much in the way of fully featured OSs that are sorta up to date for the tosa.

I've got a black 20g 900 running Xandros on the ssd, and backtrack on the sdhc. Great machine, and it fits in my coat pocket.

Yup, I'm not aware of any type I card that won't work in a type II slot.

Enjoy your sl5600

Wow, thats really interesting. Seems like its cheap enough you can get one, and even if it sucks its no big loss.

Edit: after a bit of googling http://dashto.cc/2n seems to show the laptop they had in the video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKQbN6tpYXw) is more like the bestlink alpha 400 which seems to be $200~ @ http://dashto.cc/2o . HiVisions website http://hvsco.com/sp_leftqx.asp?id=7 doesnt seem to offer any links to the uber cheap/nifty laptop : (

Can anyone compile this? I was working on it one night, but didn't have any luck.

http://downloads.sourceforge.net/pidgin/pidgin-2.5.0.tar.bz2

pidgin is the gui frontend for libpurple, and finch is the CLI frontend. If someone would compile this I would be very grateful

I'm not sure if I could go $50, but I would be happy to chip in 10-20 for the 'get InSearchOf a tosa fund'.

PM to loc4me sent about a battery.

Condition:

External: Screen, DEAD, one day it jsut went out. Scratches, all around, and the protective screen is scractched up (big surprise). Also the headphone jack is half borked (you need to wiggle the 2.5mm plug around to get stereo)

Internal: AC plug, the internal ac adapter thingy borked on it, the serial still works, I plugged a usb charger to the serial and the power LED went on (circa 10 minutes ago). And the Battery is pretty much dead. It over heated a while ago, so the gases made it huge, used a needle to poke a hole in it to expell the extra gases....

OS:
It last had sharprom 1.12 on it (the last time I messed with it since today was over 6 months ago) but I kind of butchered that up, moved crap to SD and such... so you'd need to reflash it to use it.

What it comes with?
SL6000l, docking station, AC charger, USB sync/charger thing, replacement AC part for the unit (the 5500 docking station had the same part as the 6000 needed, so you need to desodder the docking station and resodder it to the zaurus). a 2gb cf card (on which I can put all my zaurus software, ~200mb).

Price: Make an offer... I have no idea what this is worth, I'm hoping someone can use it for parts or something. But it was used daily for about 4 years (3 of those months it was a primary computer used ALOT)... so it's not fresh.

I was thinking about using my other 6000 to make a nand backup for it that had vnc/ssh start on boot and it would automatically connect to an access point, then I could stick it some place and have a little shell. Perhaps someone could use it for something more productive?

I'm not willing to risk mine...

I do know that you can not hot swap the extra battery, if you remove the battery it powers off the whole unit. The serial port on the side doesn't work for me. The speak/mic do work, there's a hollow area in the sled to allow air to pass. The sled makes the unit as a whole feel a lot heavier and adds a lot of bulk. But the extra battery and CF card make it worth it. I'm very happy with mine and would recommend anyone with big pockets and uses their tosa daily get one if they can.

I was wondering of all the people that have the expansion sleds for their sl6000s. How often do you actually use them? I have one working tosa and one sled, and it's attached 24/7 with a 4gb cf card in it at all times.

Zaurus photos. I can take request too.

Word, they made it out like it would work, but it doesn't. They also listed it as the wrong size... tempted to send it back. So far I've not had a good experience geeks.com

But it's cool collectek ; )

Edit: both drives stopped working, they wont spin up :/

how about 5GB for $10 with a 2MB buffer smile.gif

I got two of them... don't work in the zaurus...

Printed on the back it says "for embedded applications only"

Trying one of those CF to IDE adapters and fool with it that way. Big headache for a 10$ 5gb microdrive...

Also.. its closer to 4.5gb...

As of April 2nd 2008 I've not been able to login with it, and get an error saying that as of that date this version of yahoo IM will not be supported.

Andy fixes? Anyone else notice this?
