Hi,
I find these news today.

http://www.thinkoutside.com/news/index.html
May 17th, 2004
Read the press release for the new Stowaway Bluetooth Keyboard from Silicon Valley's own Mercury News.

http://www.bluez.org/news.html
09.05.2004Release of bluez-libs-2.7 and bluez-utils-2.7
The BlueZ deamons for PAN and LAN access using PPP are now part of the BlueZ utilities and so the separate BlueZ PAN package has been deprecated. It also includes the CUPS backend for printing over RFCOMM and HCRP, but the most important innovation is the official support for the HID profile.

If I couled get Think outside's foldable Bluetooth keyboard in next month and compile the BlueZ, the BT keybord will work with my zaurus?

Hi, I have just added new keyboard support to IRK.
The keyboards are MicroInnovations TKB780U and Belkin F8U1500.

http://www.mic-innovations.com/pda_keyboards.htm
http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage...oduct_Id=144042
(this looks like T806 keyboard, but I'm not sure)
SnapNType T806 IR Keyboard for Sony Ericsson P900 / P800
http://www.mobilelinktech.com/shop/snaptyp...keyboard_nr.php

Both of them have a row of keys for the numbers that is missing in pocketop.
Is there anybody has one of those keyboards and will verify this modified version of IRK?
http://www.geocities.jp/bakkeo2004/irk-zau....1a_arm.ipk.bin
This based on IRK version 0.11. I have tested this only on my Japanese Zaurus SL-C750.

The keyboards seem working with my zaurus, but there are some problems.
Some of the key-combinations for OK and cancel printed on key-top may not work. Use Cmd+Enter for OK and Cmd+tab for cancel.
For TKB780U, one may have to cut or drill a hole into the keyboard, because the layout of the cover of Ir-LED is not good and the range of beam is so small.
For F8U1500, macro key setting couldn't be made at IRK Settings-form, so one have to directory edit the IRK.conf for using macro key.

This is strictly unofficial, so do not ask anything to Cwaig.

I borrowed a F8U1500, and its buggy. To get a key in, you have to hold 'A', hold the key, let go 'A', then let go the key... so close! :-)

bakkeo, do you think you can release the source for your package? I would like to fiddle with it to see if I can get it working with my Belkin F8U1500

Hi, I have just added new keyboard support to IRK.

Takeo,

Your version 11.1a download doesn't seem to be working. I don't know if this is an error or whether you pulled it due to a problem.

Any idea when it will be up again?

Thanks.

Dave

008, I think it is a problem of keyboard itself.... I have trouble with my F8U1500, it sometimes sends strange codes when i press left shift-key, but the other keys work correctly.

Here are the files,
http://www.geocities.jp/bakkeo2004/irk-zau....1b_arm.ipk.bin
(Remove ".bin" extension.)
http://www.geocities.jp/bakkeo2004/source.tar.gz
This version supports macro settings with F8U1500.
After install, you have to reboot just after changing the keyboard type from Pocketop to F8U1500.

bakkeo, thanks for this driver. I picked up the Belkin unit as it was the only one I could find in Canada without having to order online. Your driver changes work. I'll post any bugs I may come across. I'm using the Cacko ROM. Since your last posting have you made any other updates?

Hi, just picked up a Targus wireless keyboard for my c860.

I'm running the tkcrom (v2.something) - and I seem unable to install IRK. Using version 0.11 and 0.10, installing leads to the screen filling up with the launch icon for a couple of minutes, then exiting to the set date/time page -> then IRK seems not to be anywhere.

Any ideas?

Hi! Just got my Stowaway IR keyboard and have a couple of questions.

First, thanks to smammon for helping me on the road to getting this set up!

Second, 10.1 works pretty well with it. However, with key repeat on, I kept getting weird characters like double quotes thrown in randomly, and the Enter, Backspace and Tab keys wouldn't work. With repeat off, the keyboard works great.

Third, I am a diehard Dvorak layout user. I'd like to remap the keyboard to the Dvorak layout. Is this something you can do easily, Craig, or would you like me to edit one of the files with the correct layout? I did this for the Flexis flexible keyboard. Only thing is, I'd need the source code (which isn't publicly available now), a pointer to the correct file to edit, and someone to compile it for me as I don't have a compiler.

Or is this something I can do with the existing software? I didn't see any options for this.

Thanks for any help! I hope we can do this before they take away these forums... sad.gif

Hi! You guys I downloaded the bakkeo irk version and I tried it on my zaurus 5500 which I have the tkc rom on. It installed fine but when I tried working with the keyboard nothing worked. I rebooted when I changed the keyboard from pocketop to f8u1500 but still no cigar. My battery is fine as well. Do I have to set this keyboards keys up before I use it or something? Nothing works on it. Please anyone help. I really need this for school. Thanks guys for your help in advance

Hi sunomi86,
There are two types of F8U1500 keyboard, which have different scan-codes.
Did you try both F8U1500 and F8U1500T on keyboard-type selection menu?
And, did you try to confirm the other IR data transfer softwares were completely stopped?

Hi! Thanks for your reply. I tried both the f8u1500 and the f8u1500t options. Both of them don't work. And this is the only irda software I have enabled. Any other suggestions maybe? smile.gif

QUOTE(Mickeyl @ Mar 23 2004, 01:40 AM)
The SharpROM for the SA-models is outdated and unmaintained anyway, so why try to be compatible?

Some of the Opie developers and lots of users agree that compatibility is a strength.
This is one reason why so many people are not using Opie anymore, nor developing for it.
There are numerous reasons to stay compatible, and I have always pushed for Opie and Oz to stay compatibility with Sharp roms and Trolltech's Qtopia - even though my opinion usually gets totally ignored.

For one, there will be some cool new devices released soon. Some of these devices are compatibile with Sharp roms. Other devices you will _not_ be able to flash a new system on.

There are the already compiled and working applications for the Zaurus (as well as all the commercial applications available). Another reason to stay compatibile is that it is creating yet another division in a small community.

Trolltech knows compatibility is important and so even though current Qtopia version is 2.1, you can still develop apps for Sharp roms with it.
and yes, Qt Embedded 4 and Qtopia 4 gives us the chance to break compatibility. By it's very nature compat is broken. But release dates for devices that might be shipped with it are still a long way away.
