Well I had been lusting for a new Zaurus for some time (since I made up my mind to sell off my 6000), and the C3000 was too pricey for one.
The 4 GB HDD isnt that much of a attarctive option for me - rather I want to go for the black looks of the C1000 (i had gotten a C750 over a C760 for that reason), and now Cacko support for the C1000 - thats it, my decision is sealed.
My only little grouse left with Sharp is that they didnt make the screen a 4 incher like the 6000's. The USB host is what makes me want a C1000 over my C750 now and of course a better faster processor and memory.
I think Sharp made a wise decision with this upgrade from C860 and downgrade from C3000, whichever way you look at it - in that most people want the USB host features on a PDA and that itself gives you the capacity for extra storage space in terms of add-on USB memory sticks or external HDD's etc, while not many may want carryable 4 GB HDD (seriuosly if you can want and use 4GB on a PDA (or mobile tool), then you might very soon need a 10 GB, and then what ?) on a PDA. At lkeast that the way I was looking at it.
Now for the ROM upgrades - I guess with the C860 line being over - the natural way for ROM evolution to go is with the C1000/3000 line now.
Lastly, while Japan lusts after these devices like anything (there's been a continous feed of hardware upgrades in Japan), why cant the US and Europe not savvy up to these smart devices ? Seriously, my coworkers in my office have seen my C750 and wow-wow-ed it like anything and then they go and buy a Palm, cause they cant seem to look beyond being spoon-fed with ready tailor made commonality, and of course won't buy from Japan, since theres no support (though I dont ever know what kind of support they get on their Palms apart from when they break their Palm's).
I wish.... ahhh let that be. Sharp aint listening.
