Earthlink.... normal dial-up access. Just normal DUN setup to get it working.
Access-4-free.com for free email too.

GPRS service would be different thingie totally.

Any isp with decent web access to email should work fine if you use Opera. If you push your luck you might be able to find one with a pda friendly portal.

Did you get hi speed access (NationalAccess) or are using it as a normal dialup (14.4 kbps)? If the former, how is it working? Thanks!

anyone ever used Access-4-free.com?

The point I\'m trying to make is that if you have internet access (wifi, modem, nic, via cellphone), you can get your email using web access anywhere. You can get a free yahoo account and have it pull up your pop3 mail accounts. Yahoo even has a pda friendly page (ie portal).

Web access can be relatively bandwidth friendly compared to downloading a bunch of headers, messages and attachments. ymmv.

sorry I was not logged in, but I was the one suggesting Access-4-free (or Earthlink).

I am still using Access (which is free for some limited hours per month) for basic email downloading from the Zaurus.
Of course you can use Opera to view webmails, but Opera web browsing adds some more overheads on the zaurus power and particularly on normal dial-up its is slow, unless youneed emergency browsing.

Pop email thru the Sharp email program is much better - faster, can compose emails offline and then send and recieve etc. Webmail for portable use just doesnt cut it.

So if you are a POP email user, Access-4-free.com is just right. For unlimited access, I use Earthlink.

I doubt that assertion. I have been using POP emails as well as sometimes checking the Yahoo webmails from my Zaurus, and frankly Yahoo emails thru opera is MUCH slower than dowloading all your pop emails (with headers and all and also small attachments).

Plus with POP you can compose emails offline and then send them later when connected. While connecting to the web thru opera (thru my Bluetooth capable phone, which often time dies to lack of signals in specific areas when on the move), I will get disconnected and then all my email composing online (in opera) is lost. Of course you might say why dont I compose and store in the notes application before connecting online. That is the very point of using the Sharp email application.

I dont know if this will help anybody but i am using a siemens s56.  it has irda and bluetooth but at the moment, i am using irda with my zaurus to log into the net from anywere gprs is available....which is almost every inch of the planet.

the only problem i found in this format is ...it costs 12 dollars a month just to have  4mb data transfer and after that, it costs me 3 cents per kilobyte.  anybody can suggest anything cheaper?

okay...before i was using a 56k modem with earthlink....totally cool but crap when it comes to gprs.  The reason being is I spoke with a representative from at&t and the tech guy said i cannot access normal telephone net access such as earthlink because that is not how it works, instead i set up  a irda with the phone number *99#  and no username or password..... you can access the internet through at&t and i am using http://pda.web-geek.com/  and i tell you you have mapquest at your fingertips, i managed to find directions in a blink of an eye and only used 100kb with the pda version of mapquest....literealy moble.

i also use my earthlink account setup with my zaurus default email app (800kb maxfile sucks but its the best for email) to gether emaila and also send out email.

well anyway, i am also going to ask....how do you access net from anywere for free with my getup?  you cant access earthlink dialup through gprs and also pay ontop of that with gprs data through at&t it blows chunks i tell ya.
