w100 is not produced neither supported anymore, we should request the driver source to ati. I think that if pdaXrom team contact Ati and explain their objectives, they'll get some help.

Maybe we should let them place their logo in some space in pdaxrom site, if they give us support, that is code+documentation

I have tried mailling them 4-5 times and called 10 times - everytime we end up with no return on the call etc.

Maybe a petition would help make them to lend more support?

I suppose this can be of interest to all the Z community (developers and end users alike), so it shouldn't be a problem getting people to sign it...

I started reverse engineering the aticore lib but there wasn't really any interest, infact the thread has been deleted. From what I've seen there really isn't that much more the w100 can do in hardware. I seem to remember reading that doing blits in external memory was no faster than a memcpy. The code for rastering horizontal poly scan lines does it pixel by pixel, there is no hardware acceleration.

If it has hardware mpeg decompression that would be about the only thing missing at the moment. From what I can remember it definitely can do colour space conversion. Using the internal memory as overlays would be nice as well.

Some threads were lost when the server went down. I don;'t know much about this stuff, but I do know that it would be good if we could use the accelerated functionality in OZ.

I read that it supports 3d functions in hardware; OpenGL ES support would be good, better than mesa. It's a pity that pocketpcs have a psx emulator, and we cannot run bzflag in a playable way (ok, bzflag isn't a good example of nice coding.... just an example  )

EDIT: no way.... just mpeg/jpeg decoding and powerplay energy saving

According to my knowledge, sash has already "hacked' the w100. but I dont think it works good enough for a proper release.
