Problems Installing Irk On Oz 3.5.2
« on: March 06, 2005, 08:46:44 am »
I have problems installing irk for my pocketop Keyboard. Whenever I reboot my OZ 3.5.2 after installing irk opie does not start. It hangs with a black screen.

Could somebody please give me a hint?

Uninstall the old version via commandline..ie when Z reboots, press a key to go into commandline mode & uniinstall:

ipkg remove irk

Then /etc/init.d/opie start

Then grab the upgraded version of IRK from:
[a href=\"http://www.openzaurus.org/official/unstable/3.5.2/upgrades/irk_0.11-targus-r0_arm.ipk]http://www.openzaurus.org/official/unstabl...rgus-r0_arm.ipk[/url]

Restart opie & all should be fine.

I can confirm that this works, as I've successfully installed it this very afternoon

Thank you for your answer. With a new flashed 3.5.2, by hentges, I tried it yesterday. I installed irk_0.11-targus-r0_arm.ipk from the commandline. After /etc/init.d/opie start, again only a black screen apeared. So something else should be wrong.

use irk*-r1 from upgrades just like zedkaduf said

or

copy /etc/SOMEWHERE/irk.conf to $HOME/Settings/ (probably - dont remember exact name/path).

I fixed that problem and then uploaded GOOD package to UPGRADES (but you refuse to use it anyway).

I can't find something like irk*-r1 in the upgrades-feed.
zedkaduf was linking to r0 and I had the same problem, but I could ssh to my z and copy the irk.conf.
If you don't know where your home is (  ), just echo $home.

Now it "works", I "just" have to rewrite irk to fit for my keyboard...

Ok, now I took irk_0.11.1-r1_arm.ipk  from http://www.openzaurus.org/official/unstable/3.5.2/feed/opie/, and it worked.

irk_0.11-targus-r0_arm.ipk from http://www.openzaurus.org/official/unstable/3.5.2/upgrades/ did not.

So thank you both for your help.
