Serial Over Usb Host?
« on: March 12, 2005, 09:43:34 pm »
I have this usb to serial cable adapter:

http://www.serialio.com/products/adaptors/usb_serial.htm

It's based on the pl2303, but is unrecognized when I plug it in via my iRiver cable, as can be seen in my dmesg output:

hub.c: USB new device connect on bus1/1, assigned device number 95
usb.c: USB device 95 (vend/prod 0x67b/0x2303) is not claimed by any active driver.

What would it take to get this working on the zaurus?

PS - I know about the other cable that plugs in the Sharp I/O port, but that cable is kind of pricey ($30 or so)

They ship a pl2303.c file on their cdrom, but I can't seem to find the pl2303.h file, (but wouldn't know how to build them anyway)

I am planning to address that very thing this week. keep an eye on the fast kernel thread. The next version 8 compile will be to support that card.

Thanks, adf. I assume you mean the forum right here, in 6000 general, right?

What is "verion 8"?

Do you know if you can add this to the module so the pharos usb gps that comes with streets and trips 2005 will work?

# define PL2303_PRODUCT_ID 0xaaa0

msft changed it so it would only work with S&T I got it to recompile on my laptop by replaceing the code, don't know how to add it.
What's this button do??

C3100
Distro changes almost weekly...

C3200
Distro also changes almost weekly...  :)

Hardware hacks and stuff.

You got my hopes up!  None of the modules will work.  Wrong kernel.

updated zImage on my ftp site (see fastkernel thread)

It should handle your serial cable.  It recognizes my serialio cable of the same type. also put in kernel support for svt0680 type cameras... the aiptek vga1 (which is plentiful and cheap on ebay right now) is one such.
good luck

Does your kernel support ext2 sd cards?  I have about 100mb os stuff loaded on mine.  I tried the kernel earlier today and it didn't, but I don't know when you uploaded this one.
