I would not let the presence or absense of SDIO support affect your decision. It has been known for a while that the C3000 supports SDIO... even the Cx60 models support it (or at least to a limited extent).
The problem with the Z and SDIO is the absence of drivers; there just aren't a lot of SDIO devices available that provide Linux drivers, especially ones compiled for ARM. Furthermore, because SDIO is a closed standard, there's little chance of (legally) getting hold of any driver source code.
The few SDIO cards available that work with the Z include an AirH" card (AirH" is a wireless service in Japan) and C-Guys' 802.11b WiFi card. As for the latter, while a Zaurus driver is available (Cx60 only), it has been reported that it does not work very well, and has not been updated since its (greatly-delayed) initial release last year. (To me, the the fact that the card can be used with a Z seems more like it was meant as a proof-of-concept, and not as a serious product.)
