Data Migration
« on: March 20, 2005, 06:59:22 pm »
One of the things that I liked about pdaXrom is I could use most of the programs I already use on my Linux laptop.  On my laptop I use Firefox, Thunderbird email, and Sunbird calendar.  It's easy to export my bookmarks from Firefox because it creates a bookmarks.html file for you, but Thunderbird and Sunbird are a little more difficult.  I currently have .mozilla/Thunderbird/df343dfd.default and .mozilla/Sunbird/69dfdf.default but if I run the programs on my Z it creates other directories.  If I mess with either of the profiles.ini files, the programs don't recognize my data.  I've tried symlinks 343dfdfd.default -> mike.sunbird to no avail.  Anyone know how I could sync this data?

Which leads me to my next gripe: these programs load too slow!!  I'm afraid I'm going to have to ditch them in favor of something more lightweight.  Is there a way to trim the fat on some of the programs, and if someone is maintaining the pdaXrom ports, is there anything I can do to help?  Or has anyone messed with the pdaXrom overclock app and is it worth turning it up a notch?

3rd problem: sometimes dialog boxes (especially preferences) in these programs are too big for the screen.  I can hit the cancel button on the keyboard, but is there a way to shorten these windows?

I've been tinkering with this over the weekend (finally got it!) and I've read the forums the best I could to answer some other questions, but I just can't get these problems licked.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hmmm.. Its the nature of the device its hard to run fully flooded programs - most people like myself just has FireFox launched all the time and runs in on another desktop - read the FAQ on the site

Try pressing CTRL+ALT+M in the latest versions or draging them to the screen - again read the FAQ on the site.

Did you read the forum guidelines - and did you do a search - most of these question are already answered there - except the sync problem.
