Gimp Problems - Rc 9.1

I am trying to get Gimp working on rc9.1. The program starts normally, but anytime I try to open or close a file, Gimp segfaults with the following error:

segmentation fault

(script-fu:493): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: script-fu: wire_read(): error
I've searched the web and these forums with no success. Does anyone have any thoughts on what is happening and how to fix it.

Did you install gimp from this feed:
http://mirror1.pdaxrom.org/rc9.1/feed/

and not from http://mirror1.pdaxrom.org/current (I think it is the default url in the package manager) as gtk version is a bit different.

(I don't use gimp so this is just a try)

I'm getting the same problem with a fresh install of Kathrin RC10 on my C760. Gimp starts but as soon as I click on Open in the file menu it segfaults.

Anybody have any ideas?

did you install gimp from this feed :

and not from http://mirror1.pdaxrom.org/current (I think it is the default url in the package manager) as gtk version is a bit different.

(I don't use gimp so this is just a try)

Yes, I installed it from that feed (actually from the mirror on zaurusspy). And then I've also tried installing Gimp from the rc9.1 and the current feeds, but with the same result.

I've found that if I use the 'edit in the gimp' option in GQView then gimp will open files without problems. It's only when I try to use the Open option in the Gimp file menu that it segfaults.
I don't know if that helps to narrow down what the problem might be.

Aha, that's why I can't convert to jpg.
