Kde-pim/pi 2.1.0 Available!
« Reply #180 on: July 05, 2005, 01:14:06 pm »
I am looking for a way to have multiple calendars in KOPI. Is that possible?
For instance:
calendar for my son
calendar for work
calendar for personal

Or is this handled in a different way?

TIA

That check works for newly imported items , but it does not work for saved and reloaded items.  I have fixed something in the import handling. Maybe it will work in the latest version.
Aha, that's a bit counter-intuitive, isn't it? Is there any way you can make that persistent?

Well, it is a bug, of course. But I do not know the reason the reloaded data is different.
I would need to get one dataset to see what may be the problem.

As usual, it is working for me ...

Menu View->Toggle resource view.

Or simply key "r".

Only supported by the latest version.

Yes but I don't see how this is not possible with an all-fields search. Select "All Fields" in the drop down, and it should work. If it doesn't, don't hesitate to post again and I'll try to see what's going on, but I just tested it by searching for strings only found in Notes, and it works fine here. Let us know.
Edit: One thing I just thought about: are you looking for several strings at the same time (in a single search, like Support and Oracle for someone in the Support department who's responsible for the Oracle setup)? That might be borked, and I'm going ot test it now.
More edit: what version are you running? We fixed a bug a while ago where "All Fields" was lying, and searching only in the displayed fields (whoever came up with that deserves to be taken behind the barn and shot, but that's another story).

ev1l,
You're a genius. Here's what I found. If I select 'All Fields', and I start typing in the search field, against a non-filtered list (All contacts), the app does indeed search the Notes regardless of whether or not that Field is part of my current View. The only drawback is that it only searches the Notes Field starting from the first character in the Notes field.

So for instance if I have 3 contacts who have the following in their Notes field

Watch repairman
Watch maker
Watch dealer

If I enter repairman in the search field, none of these will show up. But if I start my search string with watch, then all three will show up. Not the "best" way, but certainly something I can work around and with!!! Thanks for the idea, and it just goes to show that I need to spend more time experimenting. This is still a great app imho! Thank you!

Now where would you like me to send those stray cats?

btw, I'm running 2.0.14 on the Sharp ROM.

Best Regards,

gdog

I've tried version 2.1.12 and it works better, but still doesn't quite work.  Of my 68 calendar entries, 13 are imported again after closing and restarting the program.  I'm looking at these entries, but I haven't noticed anything which suggests why these ones are duplicated.

I've also tried creating a new .ics file with one of the duplicated entries in it and imported it via the file import, but it doesn't duplicate that one, so it's probably something to do with the Outlook sync code.

Will keep you posted if I notice anything...

That's an actual bug, and I'll put it in our DB. Thanks for the testing.

Well, that is no bug.
Please use a wildcard "*" in front of the search to search in words and not at the beginning.

Ah yeah, true enough. Then I motion for an option to have that inserted by default around search terms. Bit less confusing for users.

That DID it! Thank you very much. The more I use these, the more I learn, and the more I like them.

I guess the biggest thing keeping me from more actively using the the pim/pi apps is that i don't even use my Z much anymore because it has become so unstable since i started using the /pi apps.  I have upgraded to new versions three or four times, reflashed the cacko ROM twice, and this time forewent the installation of Kino, which seemed to be wreaking havoc on its own.

In spite of it all, my Z is still crashed and rebooted often (but not always) when i open it up after the alarm applet has triggered (as it does every morning).  It's frustrating.

Flandry,

What makes you think it's the PIM apps?  FWIW I'm using the stock Sharp ROM on my C1K with v2.0.14 of the KDE apps and it's rock solid.

Your problems could potentially be attributed to about anything you have installed, as well as the ROM build itself, or any combination therein.

I know this because I installed an app which shall remain nameless, that appeared to kill my Z. A restore cleared it up. The only other problem I've had involved me attempting to tweak the tmpfs filesystem. Now I'm back to stock and all is well. But throughout each of my problems I've not seen anything that even remotely led me to believe that the KDE PIM apps were contributing to my Z's troubles...

Regards,

gdog

I have the same setup as yours (cacko and kopi and alarm applet), and I've never run into any trouble. If you don't offer any more details, there's no way we can help you.
