I personally use 40-24, as that gives more RAM for running wonderful programs like SNES9x ;-)
As for home on SD, there's a script
here that should work I think.
I haven't tried this yet as I need my SD card to function as a file transfer vehicle (thus, FAT format so my windows card reader can read it). But anyway, if you move home to SD, you'd might as well use the 64-0 image.
Anyway, have fun with that.
