Ipk's For C3000/c1000
« on: May 04, 2005, 07:40:04 am »
Dear All,

after iamasmith and anton are working with high speed on the C3000/1000 roms, I start asking myself wether there is a deciated feed for applications to use the VGA resolution. E.g. it took me quite some time to find a libSDL that really makes use of the landscape resolution and now, finally, I can play ScummVM fullscreen.

I wish my Mplayer and so on would work the same way. So, As I do have quite some webspace and traffic I would love to offer a feed for 640x480 appz if there is a need for that. Or am I the only person that is a little dazzled because there are tons of ipk's out that were originally made for the 5x00 models?

Please, if anyone else is interested is this, I am happy to set up a download directory and give upload access to this to a few maintaining people, incl. me.

Cheers
J*

PS: keep the work going, I like the new ROM pretty much already.

Thanks andy,

I was using the bvdd version of mplayer so far but I will check the other asap. Nevertheless I was was looking for Feedback if we should put together a special feed which will deliver out-of-the-box apps instead everyone looking through tonz of threads :-)

I am the best/worst example of a lazy user as you can see ... Simply have not read your last reply to the mentioned thread.

Cheers

It's likely that we will put together a 3K/1K feed at some time as part of the Cacko project.

In the meantime a lot of the Cacko feed will work, however, there are some notable exceptions which aren't just related to the use of the ATIW100 as is the case with some variants of libSDL, mplayer etc.

Anything that installs to a directory under /home needs the ipk modifying because that lives in (limited) flash on the SL-C3000. If you check out the Cacko3k threads then you will find that versions of apache and Opera have been built that will install on the SL-C3000 there.

Also anything using UCLX compressor can give issues unless you increase the size of /tmp. Check out my comments on this thread for more information...
