Getting A C-1000 Soon
« on: May 10, 2005, 11:18:11 am »
Hi All,

Will be getting my C-1000 later this week, hopefully. Should I just keep it as ShirtPocket supplies or would I be best reflashing it immediately with a new ROM and if so what's currently the favourite for this device?

What apps would people recommend adding to it also?

I've been away from the Zaurus for a while, so have some catching up to do! Any head starts would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Owen

Congrats on the C1000. I don't regret thr purchase of my C3K, but if the 1000 had been available I'm not sure that I'd made the same decision.

I don't think anything is available right now, but soon. Since the 1000 is more similiar to the 7XX/8XX family I'd expect other ROM to be available soon. Crako is in beta for the 3K, the 1K can't be far behind.

Omro -

Check out the forums... there are a few threads talking about OpenZaurus 3.5.3 for the C1000.  I'm running it now and it's working great.

Also look for a pocketworkstation thread -- it's a debian install that you can have running side-by-side with OZ.  I'm doing that, too...

Lots of options but everything is still early.  For example, I still haven't found a great solution for playing videos full-screen on the C1000.  There are things out there, just not yet running on my C1k.

Cool stuff, I love how flexible the C-x000 range seems to be.

What sort of things have people done with their's in terms of ROMs, Apps. I guess there is such a wide range of cool and interesting uses!
