Dmblogger 1.3.2 Is Out
« on: May 12, 2005, 03:23:33 am »
Just so everyone knows, the new version (1.3.2) of DMblogger is out. That link will take you to Google's quirky translation of the homepage. A few minor bugs have been updated, such as the crash on browser  launch, and for the first time I've noticed that it's possible to download and read an entire feed post without launching the browser. Very cool.

Once you've done that, you'll likely want an English translation that launches Opera instead of Netfront. Have no fear. My inconsistent, error-riddled translation of most of the GUI is attached to this post as a .zip archive. Just drop the gui folder under QtPalmtop/bin/dmblogger and enjoy.

If you have issues with or changes to the translated files, please let me know.

[edit: New and Improved(!) GUI folder below]

This ROCKS.  If you're looking for a comparable rss reader for your zaurus that's just as useful for online and offline, this is it.  And you can read descriptions too!  So you can read entire slashdot articles without opening opera or netfront.  It took me quite a while to bother with the somewhat complex install to try it, but I'm quite happy I did!

I spotted some minor mistakes in my translated GUI and corrected them. For example, if you tried modifying a feed while fetching RSS data, you'd get a "Modify feed" status message and nothing else. It now should read "Updating. Please wait." Same sort of thing with full post retreival. These improvement aren't essential, they're just a bit better, which is why I'm posting them.

I should also note that Opera is (still) finicky. Sometimes DMblogger crashes after launch, sometimes it's fine.

one thing - I tried to see if I could use the shortcut keys.  The one I'm interested in is the 'update feed' and 'update all feeds'.  No luck there.  Some of the other keys work, but I couldn't figure out those two.
