Hey Freebird,

Thanks for the help, SUDO and explaining remounting did the trick for me.  Bluetoothing Dillo to verizon EVDO is so much faster than any so called smart phone.  What a kick.  I was worried because the default fonts and themes looked so dreary but a little bit of tweaking blackbox themes  and dillo / Fluxbox looks as good as PDAXROM equivalents.

Me too i want to change my xqt fonts can you please tell me how you did that to have similar fonts than pdaxrom ??

in the meantime, i am trying to decide what else to add to the xqt-apps cramfs.
maybe some of datajerk's compiled apps if he doesn't mind.

x48 looks good, and xqt-bochs can be bundled preconfigured with FreeDOS. win98 loads much quicker on xqt-bochs as well, but that I cannot bundle for obvious reasons.

Meanie
what about adding Sunclock :a world time with a map
you can find it  in pdaxrom unstable feeds

[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=106493\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
for information there is an other world time application
It is Time & Travel WorldClock (ttworldclock 0.9)
 [ Invalid Attachment ]
it runs on cacko so no need to add it in the cramfs
here is the link

Freebird,
I'm not sure what got the fonts working because I did not notice it until I surfed off of the home page.  The option GUI is in one of the dillo menus that you get by tapping next to the address box.  When I changed the zoom fxn to 1.2 I think that did it.
Another possibility is that I changed styles to minimal, the fourth style down in the blackbox menu.  That style has beautiful antialiased fonts.  You get the blackbox menu by shift tapping the screen.  The blackbox menu, from what I google, can easily be customized.

Dillo keeps its configuration info in a file called dillorc, fun to edit, but I don't know where cacko hides it.

Thanks for indirectly reminding me to do a nand backup, now that its working the way I want it.

Both XFT and PDAXROM would benefit from the same attention to default fonts in applications evident in CACKO.  My middle aged eyes love cacko and struggle otherwise.

If none of this works let me know and I will list the longshots I tried.  Good luck

HI ALL

Now that xqt xqt-apps and openoffice are all installed and all working well

my Goal is to make the fonts looking bigger and Bold to work with confort
and to make it look like pdaxrom

So i started googling
He are the results
for fluxbox it is easy i have just to edit a ligne which is in the theme file i am using:the ligne that is refering to the font size

But the problem is that this change affects only fluxbox menu and title bars
the applications menu fonts are not affected

So i googled again and here are the results

It says that
as the applications are gtk related, we have to look in the gtk default configuration,
and that there is different way for gtk1 and gtk2

-For gtk1: we have to make changes in the ~/gtkrc files
-For gtk2: we have to use gnome-control-center or gtk-theme-switch

Any help guys (Advanced linux users) for a newby

I downlaoded the crams images off bams site.  everrything sort of works.  mozilla and thunderbird does not work.  java does nt work.  openoffice does work but wont launch because it states i have permission denied.  any help can do.

the previous version i had no problems launching openoffice and mozilla, thunderbird never workes.  the apps do work though.  i do have a better expirience withthe xqt jumbo crams image.  does not ask for lost libs or anything.
---------------------
update...my bad.

runxqtoo

i was running

runoo

thanks.  openoffice is working like a charm.  takes a good while to load and loads like a charm.

Cresho, can you elaborate on how you fixed/solved the problem, I think I am having a similar problem.

I've installed the xqt-gtk jumbo ver 0.4.6-0.72, I've read .73 is available from bam's site but I wanted to try this first. I've also installed xqt-mozilla 0.1
when I try running firefox, either from the icon in qtopia, or "xlauncher firefox" in the console, it will start up, but when I select the default profile I get this:
"firefox cannot use the profile default because it is in use please choose another profile or create a new one" also I get this at warning from the terminal:
"GDK warning **: locale not supported by C library"

Just some background - I just got my C-1000 from pricejapan, installed Cacko full version 1.23.  I installed the jumbo pack, and mozilla cramfs into my flash memory, I read somewhere this worked if I have 40+megs free which I do.

I pretty sure this a a noob question, but I've scoured the forums, and this post seems closest to my problem.

Thanks meanie  for this great package, I might try the debian distro, after solving a few more problems and tweaks. Thanks in advance.

Sorry... Firefox starts to run, but prompts me to select a profile. when I do, it says the profile is already in use, and quits.

here is a run down of what works and doesnt work for me (running Cacko 1.23 on C1000). These are the latest files from bam's site.

xqt-gtk-jumbo cramfs package   - Works fine, x11 starts, has it's on tab in qtopia.

xqt-apps.cramfs.zip               - apps work fine, abiword takes a while to load.
-slypheed, if i can configure window size to vga.
                                           - change font size for x11.

xqt-mozilla.cramfs.zip          - NOT working. this is the package I really wanted, but it
                                            doesnt work for me

In general after reading this entire thread. I'm seeing alot of the same. It seems alot of us are having problems getting firefox and thunderbird working from the mozilla.cramfs,  But on the other hand, those that go on to install the debian package are meet with success with firefox, and thunderird (assuming they got debian working).

It seems the general concensus is using the cramfs, over the ipk packages is effortless, but not all the cramfs packages works (mozilla broken for me).

So, anyone got firefox and thunderbird working in X/QT WITHOUT installing pocket debian?  I'll like to hear from you.

FYI  - I found that the /etc/fstab had some  wrong paths. I deleted them, and reinstalled xqt-jumbo package with success, In case anyone else has that problem.

i just have the xqt, apps, openoffice running.  the rest do not work for me

this is what i do so far

install
----------------------------------------
automounter-c3000_0.4.5_arm
sudo 0.1
zlib 1.2 3-1
qconsole(disable magnifyby holding down with stylus and removing check)

./xqt-install.sh (dec 10th version)

how to use xqt environment
-----------------------------------------------------------
fn stylus right click.....
menu and hit fullscreen for fullscreen

needed commands
-----------------------------------------------------------
unmount before backing up or restoring
mount

always su before

su

to stop processess before backup, do this
/etc/rc.d/init.d/mntloop stop

to start up processess
/etc/rc.d/init.d/mntloop start

if you need to eject the sd card,
su then /etc/rc.d/init.d/mntloop stop
then
umount /mnt/card

type mount for status of mounted files.

cd /mnt/card/QtPalmtop/xqt is the location where i have it stored.

also, use a memory manager.  i modifyed maslovskys manager just a bit.  adds swap file to sd.

Hi all

spaul
ihave tweaked the dillorc file but it seems that this doesn't affect the menu fonts
it changes only the inside window fonts, thks

Meanie
as i am trying to change the menu fonts of gtk (gnome) applications
here are some informations may be you can help

in the site web below related to the fluxbox documentation
http://fluxbox.sourceforge.net/docs/en/faq...#gnome-settings

in the FAQ section here is the answer
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Gtk2/Gnome2 applications look wired under Fluxbox, but they look ok when gnome is started

A:Run gnome-settings-daemon when Fluxbox starts, eg. put this into your ~/.xinitrc

#load this to have gtk2 apps look ok
GSDPID=`pidof gnome-settings-daemon`
if [  "x$GSDPID" == "x" ]; then
gnome-settings-daemon &
fi

If you don't have gnome installed you can use gtk+/gtk2 theme switcher.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So my questions are

1- is this answer the right one
2-is gnome-settings-daemon installed in the xqt cramfs
3- is gtk+/gtk2 theme switcher installed in the xqt crmafs
4- and finally if no one is installed is it possible to install one of them

here is the link to gtk+/gtk2 theme switcher
      http://www.muhri.net/nav.php3?node=gts

it seems that it exists an debian arm package as in the link below

http://packages.debian.org/unstable/x11/gt...eme-switch.html

hope these informations can help

Cheers

freebird, can you elaborate a bit on what you did.  What I did was copy the jumbo cramfs, and mozilla cramfs to my SD card (FAT files system), along with the xqt-install script.  Then I ran the  install script as su:
Code: [Select]
./xqt-install.sh
I then proceeded to launch firefox,( the icons appear in Qtopia at this point) from the terminal, as su -

Code: [Select]
xlauncher firefox
Is there anything else I need to do? I've read meanie's site, and this entire thread.

I've tried the stock Sharprom, Cacko 1.23 and no luck on my C1000. I've gotten as far as firfox loading, but when I choose "default profile" it says it's in use, and closes.

Mind you, i've gotten the apps cramfs to work, and I've used meanie automounter succesfully also. I uninstalled  the automounter when the Zaurus started not recognizing the SD card when it was in the slot.

This reminds me of my college days running firefox on solaris in the computer labs, I would get a similar error, and what I would do in that case is erase the cache, and temp files. This error was usually becuase I've reached my disk quota. I dont know if it's the same case here. I have plenty (20mg>) left in the internal flash, and in main memory according to the manager I'm fine.

Thanks for the confirmation freebird, and if there is anything else you can add, I'd greatly appreciate it.

heyas... sorry, i feel like a tool, but i am basically a noob to linux and anything to do with it. i got myself a c3100 about 2 months ago, and i've just been getting sick of the basic functions and wanting more. so i decided to try X/Qt.

i got the jumbo package... tried to run the xpt-install.sh in terminal on Qt, but for some reason it wouldn't let me, so i shutdown Qt and ran it in the basic command. everything was setup fine, i rebooted and restarted Qt and :-( it doesnt want to work. icons, tabs etc are installed, but when i tap Start X it attempts to load, and then nothing happens.

it said on your forums, meanie, that when rebooted, you'll have to re-mount the cramfs. how exactly do i do that? i put the files (X/Qt and the Apps install file) in /hdd3/Documents/XQt/. should i put it somewhere else?

thanks to anyone who can give me hand.... much appreciated.
