My 5500 froze on me and I had to remove the batteries to reboot the durned thing. Around this time I also had to reinstall Windows on my desktop box. Yeah it was a long week.
Anyway I have my desktop software and synch software reinstalled but I can only successfully sync using the button on the cradle.
I could live with this but I can't use backup/restore or Zaurus File Transfer.
Any ideas? I'm using the Sharp Rom 3.10

I remember having this problem when I first got my original 5500 and calling a tech at Sharp who had no clue how to solve the problem.
Unfortunately, I don't remember how I solved the problem but I believe it was at the Windows desktop end of things and I reinstalled the usb drivers a couple of times. There are 2 sets of usb drivers that have to be installed and then Windows has to be rebooted before they work.
Anyway, try reinstalling those drivers and then if that fails, try uninstalling them and installing them again. Follow the directions exactly in the 3.10 pdf files.
Actually, you'd might as well install 3.13 since you are going to all this trouble anyway. REALLY explicit instructions for installation are included with the 3.13 files. It's hard to go wrong with them. You can get it here:
