Factory Restore C1000
« on: July 26, 2005, 10:38:11 pm »
well, my camera/memory card reader doesn't support transfering files larger than... somehwere over 20mb, so i had to get creative

my plan was to flash to OZ/Opie to get correct partitioning, and then flash to pdaXrom once the partitioning was successful. everything started out pretty much as planned- i transfered over the flashing files (after 2 corrupt downloads, that is   ), flashed, and OZ/Opie popped up onto the screen.

then, i went for the kill. i downloaded the files for flashing to pdaXrom, started to transfer the files, via camera, to the SD  card, and then... initrd.bin stopped it, due to "insufficient system resources to complete this operation". it's a 512mb card, so i assume it is the camera with a transfer limit (it has 30mb internal flash- that may be the culprit). i went on to my next plan: hook up a jumpdrive comtaining the files to the Z, and then copy them over to the SD card. Low and behold, USB Host doesn't exactly work right in OZ, yet.

it took a long time to think of it, but i finally figured out a solution:

Factory Restore Z to the Sharp ROM

put OZ flash files back onto card

via jumpdrive and USB host, get the pdaXrom flash files onto a folder on the card

re-arange the files when in OZ

flash to pdaXrom!

--

first things first... i can't find any instructions on how to do a factory restore to the Sharp ROM... past that, it all seems possible, but i need that step first...

any help would be appreciated

the "3, 3" thing produces an Yes/No Kanji box on the first 3, and both answers simply take you back to the service menu, doing nothing

of course.  You have to put some files in there for it to do anything.  Keep in mind that the factory rom doesn't just sit in the rom.  You replaced it with something else.  It knows what to restore when you put files on the card.

Ben,
the box simply says:
"Plug the AC adaptor in !
I won't flash without external power."

Ben,

simply go to [a href=\"http://www.trisoft.de/en_c1000howto.htm]Our SL-C1000 download page[/url].

Get the startup guide and the "NAND-Backup from 03/31/2005".

Read the section "Diag / service menu" from page 30ff.
Restore your Zaurus like described in "Restore with service menu".

And don't forget to plug the AC adaptor
