first i have to say that i am suprised that some tosa owners use oz 3.5.3.
maybe i have to give it another try..
@adf> i am also struggling with pdaXrom since two weeks. perhaps i will
flash back to the stock rom at the weekend.
my main problems with pdaXrom are:
1) suspend/resume and exiting X seems to work only every second time?!
2) from time to time panels and libs disappear...
3) time settings after reboots
maybe we can use this thread to discuss the pros and cons of the different roms.
feel free to correct me and add your own experiences:
i will start with the STOCK ROM and post something to pdaXrom later:
pros:
1) stable
2) a lot of applications available (packages for collie and clamshell models work
in the most cases)
3) good backup tool (no problem to test other roms and get back to the initial
state)
cons:
1) ugly, i mean really ugly
2) too slow for some applications (videos...)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
in combination with xqt + pocketworkstaion:
pros:
1) tons of applications of the debian project
cons:
1) no on the fly rotation

I have only experienced the time issues on pdax... the suspend resume stuff has been more of a lighting issue that corrects itself wit a tap (for me)
on sharp (and other qtopias --guylhem & 2.1) kino2 does pretty well with video in my experience.
re debian: try installing the pocket workstatiofbvnc stuff as instructed on the pocketworkstation site.
use that primarily (rotates and is snappier and less resource hungry than xqt, ans SCALES on the fly too! -- but has heybord issues w/ guyhem's kernels) and use keypebble when in qtopia. keypebble is not as fast as xqt, though I like it. It gives you rotation, some scaling, etc..uses a lot less space and has other applications. If you do all this you can still use xqt.
XQT in opie **should** ( I haven't tested it ) be faster than xqt in sharp rom.
My main concern with pdaX is that it doesn't support my ir keyboard (will buy a usb folder) or my sharp cam (surely that can be managed? or i can comiple in support for a usb cam maybe??) and that I am not familiar with the sdk (my fault). as a nice aside, I just started beinfg able to view flash stuff in firefox (thanks to a zug thread)
Guylhem was making good progress on a 6k specific setup... that might bring new worthwhile stuff yet.
OZ.... I really like OZ in theory. Unfortunatley I've owned the 2 zs (5600 &600) that seem to do worst with it. The orange line thing on the 6k bugs me, among other things. Still.. an oz/opie xqt/fbvnc/keypebble/pocketworkstation setup could really rock and might be worth attempting.
Qtopia 2.1 is really very nice. If you want to use sharprom, but hate the ugliness and age of the thing it might very well be worth going here. I have heard rumors of hardware issues..but lpotter seems to get those fixed, making it worth keeping an eye on.
