Ambicom Air2Net - dirt cheap bluetooth

Looking at some past threads, I see several people have come close to getting this card working but I haven\'t seen anyone who has said, \"Yes, the card works perfectly.\"

But, this card is now selling for $50 at Amazon, less than half the price of the cheapest I can find the Socket card.  So -- anyone have any success reports with the Ambicom?

That card selling for $50 is the AmbiCom BT2000-C card.  I believe that the last word was that someone had sent the card to Tumnus, who was potentially going to try to get the card working with the bluez drivers.  Not sure where he\'s at with that, but I\'m happy that I went with the Socket Rev. G card.  The only downside is that Socket wants you to pay extra for the software to get the card working with your Windows laptop.

Does anyone know how to identify the Ambicom Bluetooth card that works?

I have one of the newer models, but noticed that CompUSA has a rebate on one that is still marked BT2000-CF on the package but it is visibly different than the card I already have...

The E version is the one that is based on the Ericsson chipset and has proven to work with the zaurus.  They\'re both called BT2000-CF, but:

The C version: Purple semi see-through casing, square top, LED.
The E version: Black, opaque, rounded top, no LED

It sounds like the E version and I already have a C version.

I just bought the wl1100-c; $55 delivered second day from zipzoomfly.com. Works fine. I think that card is on sale at CompUSA this week for $30 after rebate

I\'d get it then, as it\'s guaranteed to work with the 5500 and c860, and will also double as a BT card for your laptop as it comes with a PCMCIA adapter.

yep - I have the bt2000-cf / e version (black top, rounded corners, no led) and it works perfectly with both my 760 and 5500.  I actually got two for $60 from ladyjane and they both came with the pcmcia adaptor to allow it to work with a laptop.

Picked one up at CompUSA today and it\'s the right one.  Not working yet and locking up the Zaurus occasionally.  I need to configure it to talk a Tecom BT3021 access point, a Mac, and a Win2K PC.

Price was $30 after in-store discount and mail-in rebate.

Which Bluetooth stack are you using with it?

This card locks the Zaurus everytime I try to eject it (bluez, suspend-resume patch) and I haven\'t been able to detect any other bluetooth devices with it.  hciconfig does give a reasonable output though.

anyone using the Sitecom Bluetooth adapter (CN501) in combination with a Nokia 6310i? I am probably going to get it in two weeks, but I wanted to make sure it\'ll work first :-)

I have a 5500 Sharp rom version 3.10

Tlaking about rom versions, anyone here that would advise against switching over to OZ ?

I don\'t believe that the cardctl ident is able to determine which card you have.  IIRC, it detected my \"C\" version as the \"E\" card as well via cardctl.  However, if the top is rounded and black, you have the \"E\" version!

Cardctl correctly identifies both of my cards.  The package that both came in said \"BT2000-CF\" though.   I like the LED on the newer card, at least I could visibly tell when it was powered up.

I\'m using the Sharp 1.32 ROM with the pre-emptive kernel.  I need to make sure I picked up the bluez package compiled for pre-emptive kernel though.
