try resizing the panel (panel properties). I think if you make it "large" it will show the icon. If you resize to medium afterwards, it will keep on showing it. There were some posts about this in that (long) thread with the wrong title : "OK, kde works, how about ...".

It works, great

The taskbar is very large though, it's also the same story when using the battery monitor plugin, since even if you set the taskbar height to small, the icon is too big.

Is this just to do with the icon png size? I.e. if I take the battery icon and resize it - make it smaller, is it gonna show a smaller height taskbar? Should, but if it's not gonna work might as well not try...

Not sure, but :
What happens when you resize to small now ?
Do you get the white square again, or does it resize the icon ?

About the battery : you could use the xfce-battery-plugin (works great).

As I understood a few months ago, once the icons are there, they stay. I haven't tried it though.

OK, I'll try making the icon smaller.

Now, when you resize to small, all the elements in the taskbar get smaller, however the big icon stays big, so the taskbar itself stays big, looks strange.

Actually I am using the xfce-battery-plugin, but the icon is too big. When you resize the taskbar to small it does the same thing, i.e. everything gets smaller, but the taskbar stays big because the icon is big.

Just tested it, you are correct.
Please let us know what happens when resizing the icons.

Thanks,

Resizing the icon doesn't seem to work. I resized it, but it still comes out big in the taskbar, but now foggy, since it's been resized to half, yet it's displayed at 100 percent. Somehow it seems the plugin gives the size for the icon and then stretches it.

Chero, which file is the uptodate file for XFCE4 install. Is it http://zaurus.spy.org/feeds/cacko/pdaXrom/....2_armv5tel.ipk from 7th July, 3.3MB. Or is it the two files here in the thread, on the first page?

I compiled minicmd plugin for xfce4.

After installing it, restart xfce4 to avoid problems with error messages when starting a terminal window from minicmd.

I wouldn't recommend it.
Matchbox (openbox) is more stable than xfce4 (though I don't use matchbox anymore).
I uninstalled them from / and reinstalled them to HD, just in case. They are available and don't get in the way.

hey chero,
i was a big fan of your xfce ipks for rc10 and am trying to get the latest packages working for rc12/SL-6000. However, it gives me

Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed'
XIO: Fatal error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0" after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining

Do i need anything besides the main xfce4 for the bare minimum to get it running?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks!
