Email Synchronizing with Wlan
« on: February 01, 2004, 07:31:33 pm »
Anybody tried to synchronize their mails with a Wifi Card ?

I tried, but it didn\'t work.
The card start connection.
The card intialize, and connect but the email still show the message \"initializing\" and nothing happened.

Any ideas ? Any issues ?

thanks all.

Start by clicking on \'how-to docs\' at the top, then click on \'sync\', then click on \'wireless\'.  If that doesn\'t solve your vague problem, please do a search.  I seem to remember something similar being discussed not more than a week ago.

Thanks a lot re410,
but I already read the \"how to docs\" but i don\'t want to synchronize, I want to check my mail directly from my ISP.
I enter the good SMTP, POP but nothing happened.

Ok, but your first message did say you wanted to synchronize. :-)

Do you need to enter a login id & password?  Does your ISP require a secure connection (SSL)?  Have you been able to get wifi to work using the browser?
Can you ping your ISP from the terminal?

Hi Re410,

Thanks for trying to help me.
At first, sorry for my bad english as I am a french guy.

My wifi card Linksys WCF12 work with browser (Opera, Netfront)
I can ping my ISP.
I can ping my email ISP in the terminal (#ping pop.mail.yahoo.fr)
I am behind a router/firewall (Maybe the problem ???)
but my wife use Wifi too and is behind this router/firewall, and use  the same email ISP (but WinXP).

So I don\'t know if there is a blocked port or not.

As wishes, I would like to make the mail LED blink when receive mail.

Cheers,
Richard.

Isn\'t yahoo web mail, like hotmail? I don\'t think that the email program handles web mail. Can you use Opera 6 and go through their web page using mail.yahoo.com to get email?

I use opera to read yahoo email online.
I download yahoo messages with a perl script to Outlook on a Windows PC and synchronize to Zaurus to read yahoo email offline.
