If you mean, 'Why is it out selling Windows Mobile and Palm OS?', the answer is China. They love open source and free software.
If you mean, 'Why is it being crushed by Symbian?', the answer is that virtually all handsets sold in America and Europe are now smart phones, and Symbian runs on those.
