Some webdesign groups do that, and there's a good reason: they're paid by the hour.

hack up your own PHP news script, its not tough, and post news that way.  Also, check all your security settings.

it will takes a lot time creating a web site without CMS
but then you can take the full control of it

you can argue it's more secure too

but i don't think PHP is a secure lang

use JSP/Servlet

The issue is simply keeping up with updates.  That's all it was and is.  It's no biggie, really.  It's not like anything was lost.
