Quick news from the labs in Russia and Denmark:

Rom wise:
XServer will updated for Tosa Akita and Collie in next release, SL-C3100 support will added in next RC for Akita devices.

New live CD for ROM developers (with installed cross tools), current liveCD only for core developers.

Also preparing "pdaXrom/dance" Sashz new simple embedded GUI for small devices with small screens.
It already works on x86, arm, sh-4 and h8 CPUs, and support generic linux framebuffer, linux keyboard,
touchscreen mouse emulation, sega dreamcast framebuffer, sega keyboard, sega joustick, sega keyboard,
cybiko LCD controller, cybiko keypad.

For embedded devices with limited ROM/flash it use simple singletask monitor. For embedded targets its uses gcc xchain with newlib.

Website
The new website with a completely new CMS built from scratch is almost done. The new design/look of the website will be implemented tonight hopefully. The first "prototype" will hav full web editor for content editors and image upload - this will probally be ready tomorrow evening.

Then the comment function, bug reporting system and bounty system will probally be next. And the feeds with developers havin g 100% control for updating and editing. We will probally also make it so that the sources for the ipks can be uploaded for each - this should help people trying to compile a newer version etc.

We will also be making a news/blog section where our main developers will be posting news - and if our developers have the time we hope to make IRCs sessions for developers and "education/turtorials" online.

Looks like a great beginning! I would like to just comment on some bits. First: bug reporting, feature requesting and the bounty system should be the same thing: that is, people either file a bug report or a feature request, and then it should be possible to put money on it, and to comment on it. Well I guess it is obvious, but just in case
Second: it would be really nice if the package maintainers upload ONLY the source, and the whole compilation task is done server-side. This way the migration to the new toolchains is automatic, there is no redundancy, the sources are always working for people who download them, and so on. This scheme is used on Debian and I guess in pretty much every other major distribution too. I understand this is no obvious task to implement immediately (you'd need to set the rules for the maintainers of how to arrange the source packages, put the compilation infrastructure up, think about security and so on), but just think a bit on it, maybe you'd like the idea

Overall, looks promising, just don't loose the momentum on your way to success

Another status update: Sash is currently working on RC11 with the new 4.0.5 X server which should give, among other things, new acceleration stuff for Corgi users (new Ati acceleration stuff), Akita and Tosa (PXA accel routines), and hopefully fix the big font problem when rotating.

As for bug reporting, I saw a system on a site which had a list of all the known bugs, and it worked like a forum for each bug until each was resolved and filed in the fixed category. That might help people sort out bugs and prevent endless bug posts in this forum? Just an idea.

Any plans to change the default set of apps? I get the impression some would like a totally lean version, with noting pre-installed, so they can put just what they want and some would like a totally apped out version, so it's the easy, allinone experience.

I'd love to see a road map, like the have for gnome and kde listing all the objectives for the next release. That's be a cool feature and like you say people can post on the forum to say what they think about the roadmap and if you like the suggestions, you can take them on board.

Hey hey - im now done with the core cms system and the editor is ready - they system is very flexible and im pretty happy with it so far.

I will be looking into the bug reporting/bounty system this weekend and probally also the feeds. At the same time the first prototype will be available and i hope some of new content editors will beging work on the actual content.

Someone already asked this question in this thread, but I do not see the answer. In fact, this question has been asked in other threads also, and I did not see a good answer. Is pdaXrom ever going to support the SL-C3000 ? Is there a technical reason for not supporting this device ?

If there is a technical reason, it might just be that the developers don't have access to a C3000?

We don't have a C3000 - but sash has talked with some other developers and we might get it working.

I like the idea of a slimmed-down featherlight pdaXrom distro. No need to resize my internal flash partition, and the rest can go onto SD or CF!

Status update. I have just tried the latest RC from Sash on my 760 and its execellent - includes new X 4.4.0 (4.5 was full of problems). New fixes and features includes the fixed problem with big fonts on rotation and many other things. We expect to release this in the middle together with the new website - there will both slim versions and full preinstalled roms.

The delays on the website are 100% due to my real work taking up to much time of my sparetime :-)

Can anyone help you with the website, either to get it up or to maintain it when you've finished it?

Will the slimline version have just the the command line, no gui?
