Is it possible to get the japanese fonts installed so that kanji/kana can be displayed?
KanjiNirvana seems have its own input area that doesn't rely on the OS, so I'm guessing I could still look up kanji by drawing them, as long as I could read the kanji matches returned, and the Kun/On readings...
Nunome sounds promising. Maybe a simpler intermediate step would be getting japanese keyboard input (ie: type 'ka' and get a か)? KanjiNirvana does a simplified version of this too.. Maybe some code could be borrowed from the sourceforge project?
Mickeyl, you sound pretty knowledgable and involved in this sort of thing already. Is there an IRC channel you hang out in, or that you can recommend I visit to meet some people who would share this goal?
