Hardware Accelerated Drivers For Sl-6000x
« on: August 26, 2005, 10:00:21 am »
Does anyone know who wrote the bvdd accelerated drivers? Would that person be willing to try their hand at the 6000's drivers. That is pretty much one of the only things that keeps my 6000 from being perfect. From what I understand the hardware is there, and just needs drivers to take full advantage of it.

The pdax folks said they'd have updated 6k drivers (i don't know how much they take advantage of the onboard hardware) in the next release, if that helps...

Hello

Any acceleration should be applied to:
 - libsdl
 - mplayer

Adding acceleration to X doesn't seem very interesting to me, except of course if you use pdaXrom :-) Yet they could be interested to implement libsdl/mplayer drivers

Acceleration is only interesting to me as far as video playback is concerned. Maybe my question should have been about new mplayer and kino2 with acceleration for SL6000L.

presumably one could better optimize x-driver and libsdl and mplayer (and vlc??), though not with one "fix"  Certainly the most optimized possible libsdl would be a high priority.  With mplayer couldn't a static, softfloat compiled, optimized version be made?
