Thinking Of Selling My 860
« on: October 02, 2005, 02:18:31 am »
Hi
I am thinking of selling my old slc860.  It is in good condition. the screen is perfect - never used without the screen protector.  The case has a little wear on the edges, and a slight dent on the top of the case.

I have the cacko on it (1.22a) . I also have the camera that goes with it, and the orginal box and manual it came with.  I also have a registered TextMaker on it.

What is the asking price on these used units? I can take a picture of it also.  I also have a 1gb sd card and 4gb CF card.  I have an american electrical plug in cord that came with the unit.  Also a CF wireless card ( Pocket PC Pretec 802.11b compactWLAN ) - that works with it, and a ethernet card (Socket LP-E )

So do aI sell it as a whole, or piece mail it.

oh,  I want to sell it cuz I want to get the OQO +1  unit.  I think it is more my speed.  Linux is just too hard for me to really learn.

Thanks for the suggestions/help

Based on the current price for a C1000 delivered @ $446 (www.Pricejapan.com)
I would estimate that a used MINT C860 would be worth ~ $250 with one showing
wear like yours worth  ~ $200.

This is how I got that pricing:

New C1000 delivered $446
Used MINT C1000 delievered $400 (446 less ~ 10%)
Used with C1000 (with wear) delivered $360 (446 less ~ 20%)

Used MINT C860 delievered $250 (446 less ~45%)
Used C860 (with wear) $200 (446 less ~ 55%)

Obviously this is one person's concept, and the final sales price is determined
based on what a buyer will pay AND the seller will accept.

But c860 is the lexus / mercedes of pdas.  It should hold its value better.  Look at this link.  Continuing the used car analogy you, as an individual should expect to get somewhat less.  Best way to price is see what they go for on ebay.  Good luck.

I wonder if conics is able to sell at that price, considering that you can get as new C1000 units (with warranty) for about $325... ( see post right here on this forum)

Would you please point out kindly the source for the quote?
I also fail to see it logically following from the other data mentioned in your post.

First post but I have been looking at getting some form of Zaurus for a few days

Just missed out on a c860 on ebay in the uk, it ended up going for £226 thats just short of $400

Item number: 5814288620 ebay.co.uk

Quite a lot of interest, and not that many out there.

Hope that helps

If it helps, I paid £185 for a 760 which is pretty much the same as the 860, and $350 for a 1000 with wireless card.  I'd say an 860 is probably worth about the same as the 1000: it's a bit slimmer, but doesn't have a USB host port and the keyboard isn't as usable as the 1000s.

Me too except I've been looking for a few months and saw that unit too   However, it ended up over my max price, so I didn't bid, but had checked into the history of the unit earlier in the week.

A c760 went a month ago for £190 (chiark got that one), whereas a c760 went for over £240 the month before (of course with the Cacko ROM a c760 isn't that different to an c860), although it did have a leather case and other accessories.

Hmm, a second hand (with 1 month warranty) 860 from conics is £280 ($500 once you've included delivery), and potentially there's VAT / import duty to pay too, which makes these ebay units look good value.

Of course, for a lot more money, you can buy new from www.trisoft.de and get a full EC approval stamp on the unit too (or other sellers in Europe).

I guess we should form a gentleman's agreement to not bid against each other
