Here are my tests
Reboot NO CF card

cardctl status
Socket 0
no card

Socket 1
3.3v 16-bit PC Card
function 0: [ready], [bat dead], [bat low]

mount
/dev/hda1 mounted
/dev/hda2 mounted
/dev/hda3 mounted

every hard disk is accessible

suspend/resume
nothing change in cardctl, mount

every hard disk is accessible

Suspend/resume with an open file on the disk doesn't close the file
2nd test with a file open (mp3 in xmms) the screen is flickering and no resume (long press (3s) on the power button resume the Z) (after resume, xmms is still open )

even after that every hard disk is accessible

Reboot with CF Card

cardctl status
Socket 0
3.3v 16-bit PC Card
function 0: [ready], [bat dead], [bat low]

Socket 1
3.3v 16-bit PC Card
function 0: [ready], [bat dead], [bat low]

mount
/dev/hda1 mounted as /mnt/cf
/dev/hdc1 mounted
/dev/hdc2 mounted
/dev/hdc3 mounted

every hard disk is accessible

suspend/resume
nothing change in cardctl, mount

Impossible to resume with a CF card inserted, the screen is flickering, the Z show the screen and go back to suspend
when you eject the CF card, press twice the power button (one time to "resume" and unmount CF card logically, the Z go itself in suspend, one time to resume really the Z)

so the other "problem" is the assignation of the devices, CF card is /dev/hdc when you boot without CF card and /dev/hda when you boot with a CF card

There is for me another problem in RC12 on 3100, The Autonomy
with sharp rom i've with my utilisation like 8hours of autonomy
with the pdaxrom RC12 and the same utilisation, i've only like 2 hours of autonomy
or maybe it's the batery applet who has a problem, each reboot, the battery status come back to 100% and rapidely decrease
has anybody else the same problem?

OK, after suspend/resume things seem to work fine here so far.
There is one thing however: if I boot/reboot with CF in the slot, CF is /dev/hda1, harddisk is /dev/hdc. If I boot without CF in the solt hdd is /dev/hda. As the partitions on hdd are always mounted correctly (/mnt/idex) this is not a problem, I would find it more "logical" if the dev would not change (but maybe that's not possible): say reserve /dev/hda for CF and always put hdd as /dev/hdc. Anyway I probably won't use CFs much as there is the 4GB hdd and even my Linksys wifi card works well so it will live in the slot most of the time.

I did not experience any crash since I installed RC12, but I'll keep you informed if it does happen.

One more problem...
With package manager...
If you install to /mnt/ide - app will fail to start if even one file that it need isn't on /mnt/ide (i think it's becouse package manager doesn't make symlinks to newly installed files)

When using mplayer with these options:
mplayer -ao oss -vo bvdd:rotate=-1 -vm video.avi
How do I stop the video ?
I tried q as written in the mplayer's help, Ctrl-q, Cancel and other combinations but no go.

On my 3100 mplayer seems to react to the device with the red arrows (don't know how to call it precisely). CLicking on the right arrow skips a section of the move, and when it comes to the end mplayer stops. Not a very clean method, but it works. The jogdial seems to have the same effect, but less smooth.
Is there a way to control the sound volume?

i have the same problem with the life of the battery. in sharp rom i had a lot more battery life. in pdaxrom after the battery (seems to) is empty you are not able to turn the zaurus on. but if you plug in the poweradapter and turn the device on now, the zaurus doesnt have to reboot or something like this... it is at the state before the battery (seems to) be empty. this might be a good idea that you cannot turn on the device if the battery is very low... but i think that the battery never gets that low and suspends the zaurus. i think that the zaurus just thinks that the battery gets low and so suspends itself. is there a possibility to turn off this autosuspend when the batter (seems to again) gets empty?

Around 4h of playing in Q1 and Q2 (more then 3h of playing in Q1 and around 30min of Q2)  - normal... (And I had around 65% of battery, acording to battery applet)

P.S. Q1 - without overclocking. Q2 - with maximum overclocking

@ tcoulon, for me the Mplayer shortcut keys works if I launch mplayer from the console but when I click on a file from ROX filer using the "set run action" and passing the options to mplayer the keyboard doesn't react while playing the file(even clicking on Cancel twice as Sashz suggested). I have to wait the end of the movie to get the keyboard back responding.
BTW, mplayer shortcut keys are available by typing mplyer in console without any file.

Thanks

plz try another test:

edit file /etc/apm/scripts.d/cardctl :

look for cardctl commands and edit:

Code: [Select]
cardctl eject 0 2>/dev/null
and

Code: [Select]
cardctl insert 0 2>/dev/null
and try tests again

Moved by Laze
- First off, I'm not pdaXRom bashing; the idea of a full X-based Linux distro in my pocket is very attractive!

- I just read this entire thread, and while it looks like pdaXRom folks have done a great job with RC11, I'm still getting the feeling there's some instability there for C1k users.  I tried RC10 a while ago and concluded it wasn't stable enough for my tastes.
- Stability is of vital concern to me.  I accept that fact that Winbloze goes down like a two-bit night walker on a regular basis, but I will not tolerate that from my PDA.  Sharp's ROM may not be the most feature laden, but in my experience it has been rock solid stable.  Not as stable as the old Psion line, but pretty darned close, and that's saying something.
- Given this, in the Forum's opinion, is RC11 stable enough to reconsider?

- If people think it's a Bad Thing! ™ to be discussing stability here, feel free to respond in a message and I'll make my determination without impacting the good work the pdaXRom team has done.  As mentioned, I'm not looking to bash anyone.
- If the pdaXRom folks are just put out by it, feel free to delete this post.  I'd rather it be gone than piss people off.
- Thanks for your time...

I've made all my test again after your modification, no more problem
all the mountings of the drive are ok, each suspend/resume
with or without a CF card in the drive
and the hard disk is always accessible
(the CF and the hard disk are still changing dev device, but i know now why it isn't important at all )
thanks a lot

hehe i can say that in a day or two, the time to test this config
But visibly, Civil has not this problem, it is maybe machine-based, so... test for yourself

but for me the hdd bug is fixed  (long time testing in progress but no problem for now)
