About searching previous info before ask.....  I would like to note that, in the \"devnet board\" of the old zaurus community forum (thast is mirroed int the mirror sites of the Home of ZUG), still dont work fine and the search function still points to: http://www.sharpusa.com/zaurus/ (what so appears to be in a forever \"under construction\" status...   ), so, LOTS of posts about troubles & fixes that as dicussed on this forums are unsearchable by now, so, Im not sure if this could be easy fixed, but the thing for sure, is that if it could be fixed, it help a lot with the \"search before ask\" advice to the new users onthe forum...
I believe that in fact this was reported by other user sometime ago....

Best regards!!!....

Ah... multiple search features on the site... I was using the wrong one.  Thanks! =)  Maybe that information (which search features are used for what) should be posted at the top of the first page, since I can imagine a lot of new comers go to the homepage, enter a search (not knowing that THAT search is only for the new posts), can find what they're looking for, get discouraged, and then leave to look for other websites for info...

Personally I can't see the se for a partial search...I mean 99% of the time I want all hits regardless of where...I think the lame search should link to the full search and save the mind-reading for other things

This site is a plethora of information (do you hefe', know what a plethrosa is? ....excerpt from Three Amigos).

And with all this info, things could be easier to find. However, I do think that rehashing old topics can often bring in new insights...so I am not one of those people who beleve once it is discussed it should never be brought up again...this would lead to a dead forum pretty quickly and no new users as they wiuld be too woried to get flamed..

My 2 cents.

I really like the clearity of the post of Omicron and agree with that .
Since the launch of the Zs, they didnt and dont be owned and used only by computing systems admin& develop. related people, so others users dont had the same background.... (and this is fine, because if we want that the Z stays around, we need a rising group of new users, or the Z will get the same fate that others devices with low quantity of fans....)....  in fact my suggestion to fix the search over the old forums is only with the intention to had an easy research option to a lot of miscelanious info that is already simplified....

Best regards!

xaser - unfortunately the search on the old devnet board cannot be fixed until I (or someone else) gets the access or a copy of the db for the devnet board.

The mirror that I did merely took a snapshot of the board, and there is no db behind it, hence the search doesn\'t work.  Every now and then I pester the contact that I had at Sharp asking for the data, but I haven\'t gotten a response.

Yes, this problem was reported a while ago by someone else, but I also believe I gave the same explanation as to why it doesn\'t work and what we need to get it working.

If someone else has any idea of how we could enable some kind of searching capabilities to a mirrored site, please don\'t hesitate to contact me.

Thanks

Since the content is static at this point, you should just be able to plug in any off-the-shelf full text search engine.  It can spider the mirror once during setup to create an index, and then be ready to answer queries.

There are a lot of people that simply jump to a site, specifically to post a message and don't look at the whole site . I think that 90% of your duplicates probably come from theses users.
