I am using the sl5500 with the original (2.38) rom that came on the device. I have tried the newer 3.10 rom and it did not work with my wifi card (Netgear MA701). So I flashed back to the original rom. Is there a pdf reader for this rom? I downloaded opie-qpdf and it complained of needing opie-base. I could not find an ipk for that. Do I have to have the opie rom to use that? Is there a pdf reader for the sharp rom?

Use this: http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=1228

I don\'t think it requires libopie, but if it does, get it from here: http://opie.handhelds.org/feed/sharprom/latest/

Also, here is a useful guide to popular Zaurus applications:
http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php...0I%20use%20to...

The FAQ software section has lots of help when it comes to Opie apps and the Sharp ROM as well.

Thanks tumnus, but another post on this forum had another answer. (Not that yours would not work, but I tried theirs first.) There are opie ipks that have been converted to work with the sharp rom at:
http://opie.handhelds.org/feed/sharprom/stable/1.0/
I just downloaded their opie-qpdf_1.0.0-sharprom_arm.ipk and installed it without a hitch. Thanks for your input, and sorry for not looking harder at the previous posts. I plead newbieness!

No problem. qpdf2 is a lot better than qpdf BTW. The link http://opie.handhelds.org/feed/sharprom/latest/ that I posted refers to the latest Opie packages for the Sharp ROM.

One more thing. As tumnus said, libopie is needed. The qpdf installed without libopie, but did not work until I installed libopie. Thanks again to all.

Just a quick question. . .why wouldn\'t your wifi card work?  I have the same card, rom 3.10, and SL5500.  It works wonderfully.  If you don\'t want (or for some other unkown reason) to use open Zaurus, feel free to message me and I\'ll try to help you get your wifi card up and running.  I would at least like to know what went wrong with it, so if it happens to me, I can fix it.

Thanks

I don\'t remember exactly what went wrong,
as that was months ago that I tried that rom.
I probably would have tried a little harder if
I had the assistance of this group, but i did
not yet know of it. My zaurus is working so
nicely now, that I don\'t want to possibly mess
it up by flashing the rom, especially after
reading a couple of the horror stories of failed
flashes. Is one of the other roms for the sl5500
that much better?
