Networking Problem With 3.5.3
« on: December 23, 2005, 01:03:33 pm »
I am trying out OZ/GPE for the first time. I have installed 3.5.3 on an C860. It seems that I cannot get outside my LAN after configurating the wlan0 interface. I can ping the LAN address of my router/gateway, but cannot access any addresses outside the router.

There was no /etc/resolv.conf file, when I looked under /etc. I have created that now, with the correct IP addresses of primary and secondary nameservers. That doesn't help.

Any ideas?

I imagine you have to set a route (and nat?) to let the Zaurus know how to obtain addresses outside of your local network.

Instructions are the same as for a standard Linux system, plus there are posts about this floating about on the forum.

I gave up on OZ/GPE. I tried everything that just remotely seemed to have anything to do with the above mentioned problem - to no avail. I ought to mention that I have set up GNU/Linux and Solaris hosts on my LAN, both wired and wireless, several times without having this sort of problem. There were other nags that finally convinced me that this ROM is not for me.

Thank you for your time.
