my story is a simple one:
I have a treo 650.
I have owned this fine piece of hardware for over 6months.
I got a big pile of c1000 PDAs brand new.
the first thing I nontice is a big stack of socket BT cards... I wanna get on the net.
I remember that I
installed a hacked rom for my treo 650 from this person named
ShadowMite Saviour to many verizon wireless subscribers who own a treo 600 or 650.
Now the full tutorial on how to overwrite a rom on your treo is here:
http://shadowmite.com/HowToDUN.htmlYou only need a SD card and a copy of a free palm app called Filez that let's you view internal rom and external SD.
the short version is copy the hacked BTmanager.prc to a SD card and use filez to simply over write and reset your phone BAM EMERIL! BAM!!
and there it is... something that your phone should do anyway. Dial up using BT connection. fucking assholes at palm, verizon and sprint get the nutsack for simply commenting it out! making it unusable to those of us without the skills of a full blown developer at PALM.
...back to the Zaurus:
Of course being the fool that I am I installed the factory jpe rom from sharp with english localisation. a good intro, but quite frankly the kanji is prettier to look at. unless you are a retard, you can SEE what the icons mean.
BUT there sure as shit isn't any BT support!
After bucking on 3rd party ROMS for about 3-4 days I decide to take unit#2 and install the latest version of cacko 1.23 from here:
http://my-zaurus.narod.ru/cacko.html as it taunts me with it's "BlueZ working BlueTooth Drivers" and all the other things I have read about it seem to be good news.
Lo and behold there is a God and it's name is Cacko! BUT WAIT!
what is all the crazy BT stuff in here

?
I am a TREO owner on the VERIZON network, which does not officialy support DUN on any unit except that thing some jerk named the "BlackBerry".
However... the information to get us in is readily available from customer service!
To get on with your zaurus running the Cacko Rom 1.23 or later enter this for Verizon in the network settings for configuring a BT PPP connection.
Username: "your phone number@vzw3g.com"

click "connect" and you are off!
sure as shit I can surf le web from my web enabled PDA phone on my..um other PDA which can't accept a bigger SD card then 1GB??? more about that some other time. (what the fuck was SHARP thinking?) So that's right... a c1000 with a 640x480 screen and a 416mhz processor cannot use more than a 1gb SD card, and you are boned if you want wifi AND to listen to your music??
Would it have killed them to atleast build the BT in???
All the same glory and fireworks to cacko and shadowmite for making great shit that fixes products that weren't broken until they were altered by their producers. thanks alot Palm and Sharp.
